Depends what your limiting factor is...if it's actual strength or if it's the muscle simply not having enough endurance to push more reps.I have found the exact opposite experience.
The only thing that has ever made me better at lifting heavier weights... was lifting heavier weights.
IMO, no one is getting to a 225lb bench by pressing 135 a whole bunch of times, even if like really really fast. I know there are weight progressions, I just don't find this to be anywhere as successful as say Sheiko, 531, Conjugate, etc.
*not a powerlifter, never was or wanted to be one.
I typically switched modalities every 6-8 weeks so I wasn't training any single method for a long period of time.
