I don't do drugs, can I still avoid that 'nice guy' image?

Increasingly, the people around me, not really friends, but people I meet in clubs, bars and the general social scene where I live are into drugs. Cocaine use seems to be skyrocketing in the 20 something scene. A lot of guys I've met are heavily into blow, but not as many of the women.

I know several women who are in relationships with coked up guys - essentially, these guys are losers - crap jobs, go nowhere life, really bad attitudes, and more often than not, they behave like complete jealous arseholes, rather than having that elusive 'jerk' attitude, these men are outright coksuckers.

Now, I don't really socialise with these people too much, but they are around the scene I hang round.

I do not do drugs. I don't mind if someone wants to smoke a joint or something, but hard stuff? I have no time for it, and will absolutely not ever do it.

Consequently, I think I have this boy scout image - everyone says I lead such a clean lifestyle - I like to go out and down a bunch of beers with the boys while watching the game, but that's the extent of it.

How can someone seem like a 'bad boy' when everyone around them is actually a scumbag loser? I mean, anything I do to fall in line with that image is going to seem faked for me.

What are your thoughts on this? I cannot indulge in taking drugs, it's just not me. I like working out and being healthy - doing fun activities like running, football, skiing and golf. My problem is I think everyone thinks I'm some sort of goodie goodie prude.

I am literally in the minority because I don't do drugs of any kind. This world is getting increasingly bizarre......

Why do you WANT to have the bad boy image? Is it cuz you hear that women are attracted to bad boys? If so then you're pathetic, I don't mean to offend you, but I probably have anyway.

However, if you insist on being a bad boy - you need to have the attitude. You don't give a damn what people think, you will **** up the next guy that stares at you like you owe him money. Get the attitude. It's also about people around you, if you don't hang with bad boys, you probably won't have the bad boy image. Personally I don't see what's so bad about you're current image except for the fact that you're a goodie-goodie, which I hate. Just stop obeying people so much and put on some ****iness and you will get rid of that.

Let me get this straight... doing drugs means your a bad boy? lol.

Half the people that do drugs do them because of peer pressure. That means they do drugs because they care what people think of them. Do you care what people think of you? Instead of trying to be a bad boy, try and be yourself. If you don't like drugs, don't do them.

I dont see what his obsession with the bad boy image is...You have alot of people who havent even done anything bad at all all of a sudden try to act bad...Then on the other end of the spectrum, you have people who really are bad boys and project that image, they are trying to become good...I say you should stop hanging around people that do coke, cause if you get caught with them and they have that sh1t on them, all of you are gonna be in trouble...

I guess I'm wording it all wrong. I don't mean I want to be a 'bad boy' per se. However, I am confused that all these women always go after bad boys.

Maybe I was confusing it with having that 'jerk' quality without actually being a jerk.
I guess I just feel like people see me invariably as a 'nice' guy because I don't muck around with all that nonsense. While the guys who are screwed up on drugs seem to have hot girlfriends.

I mean, if you're a nice guy with a good job and aren't on drugs, what is it about the druggies that attract chicks?

Nevermind.

When you say "nice guy" do you mean someone who generally does favors for everyone? Someone who puts other people before himself? That isn't a "nice guy" at all. If you aren't one of these people, great!

It seems your still worrying about how people percieve you. This is quite possible the hardest thing to get rid of. This is, ironically, the attitude your so-called "bad boys" have. They don't give a fvck about what people think of them and they don't let people walk all over them. This is the attitude you need to have. Drugs have nothing to do with it.

Ok, yeah, that makes sense. You worded it in a much better way than I. You're right, I am too worried about how people perceive me. I think with the guys I know or observe, the drugs do help fuel that "I don't give a toss" attitude to a certain extent because they're always stoned.

Yeah, I try to avoid them at all costs - they sometimes go into the same clubs and bars I will go to on weekends, so I'm kinda stuffed there. The trouble is, I don't know who's on drugs half the time, being somewhat naive about them, and some of them treat the issue like it was their dirty little secret - perhaps out of shame, I don't know.

I edited the thread title to re word more accurately what I was trying to express.

yeh, deeloo is right

it's all about your attitude.

the only thing doing hard drugs will impress is more bad boys, so unless you want to attract them, wake up and realise that most people look down on those who use drugs.

Whatever you do, you better not do ANYTHING to impress other people. Do it for yourself man.
That's brilliant that you aren't being drawn into the crowd. Health in body and mind is the way to go. It must have been hard to follow this in your teenage years when your peers were leading the way with their stupidity

Rise above the shower of idiots. Be a real man.

Yeah, in the neighbourhood I grew up in, it was difficult to find freinds that weren't taking mushrooms, LSD and smoking pot., but I did. I was no angle by any stretch, but somehow I just didn't want to do it. I tried smoking pot but never liked it. My friends were decent people, just young and dumb. I used to get offered it alot, but I was assertive enough at that age when I said no thanks that they never really bothered me about it.

Never jeopardize your health to impress women. Your confidence should come from inside not outside.
