I am not achieving any advancements anymore at uni, so here is my 'insane' plan

well everyone i have spoken to seems to think its insane anyway.

My uni friends are all unsatisfied with life. But they accept it, and are not willing to do anything about it. Being around them (id also be living with them next year in a house) distracts me from my DJ ways eventually, even if I go on a really good run. And when I am busy living the DJ life, i feel distant from them, like I dont have any proper friends, since the DJ route is a rare one. Also, more than anything, I do not want to do the job that my course will lead me to. I want to do something fun.

So here is the plan (im 19 bye the way)

I plan to quit uni, and move to Newquay (Surfing capital of the UK) with my best mate from home. Once there, I will go on a beach lifeguard course and work as a lifeguard, whilst learning to surf in my spare time. I have about 3 hours surf experience up to now, but when i did go, i LOVED it, and could see how the lifestyle would suit me. Once I have about a year's surf experience, I plan to attend a surfer's instructor course and I can then become an instructor. This means I can then spend my winters (whilst still young) in hot countries teaching people to surf, and spend my summers in the UK doing the same thing. The money sucks but il be happy so who cares right?

Does this sound stupid to anyone or do you think I should persue this dream?

my uni is killin me too....same old shít. thats why im going abroad to south america from jun->dec. i think thats a better route to go (going abroad) because then you wouldnt have wasted that money on school and you can get a nice change of scenery, and hopefully, come back fluent in another language.

plus you can always do what you are saying you want to do now AFTER uni

Why would you quit? Just finish and then go all hippie gypsy from there :p but that way you'll be a prepared surfer

Stay! This could be a big, big regret later on in life if you leave!

What happens, IN HER MIND, is that she comes to see you as WORTHLESS simply because she hasn't had to INVEST anything in you in order to get you or to keep you.

You were an interesting diversion while she had nothing else to do. But now that someone a little more valuable has come along, someone who expects her to treat him very well, she'll have no problem at all dropping you or demoting you to lowly "friendship" status.

I'm with Mr. (or Ms.) Pink on this one (I just watched Reservoir Dogs  ). So this grand plan is to quit college, quit education, quit getting your degree, quit getting a well-paying job in the future...to increase your chances with women? When you're 40 or 50 years old and can't do the surfing thing anymore, you be missing a lot.

Sure it could make you happy (in the short term at least), but I don't feel this is worth throwing your life away for. You can always do this after college (being 21 or 22 is not old) and you can also get women while at college. Of course getting that degree and stepping towards a solid career helps too.

well i guess affording it isnt an issue (my family does pretty well) but my dad said if its comparable to the price of a semester id be missing here at my Uni and as long as I dont fall behind in my degree then hes all for it. it actually turns out to be cheaper than a semester here. you just have to go with some study abroad program, and they are pretty reasonable.

on the other spectrum..i was also thinking about just packing it up and moving to south america (before i decided to go abroad). there are language schools there (they pay fairly decent..enough to get a place and make some extra money) that love gringos because they can teach english to the kids/people there

whats stopping you from doing above mentioned 'surfing etc' after you've finished your degree? Wouldn't the added safety of the degree help you out?

what you all seem to be missing is that the degree course I am doing will lead to a job that I am fairly sure I DO NOT want. I cannot bring myself to do the work for it because the end result is not pulling me in enough. To do hours of boring work, there has to be something that you'll like in it for you when you finish. I do not have this. There are 3 years left of the course. Thats a long time. I do not want to have to 'cope' with life like i am now. Thats what Id be doing if I stayed at university
