to make this short I am looking for any advice from Hunters or gun lovers.

I haven't fired a gun in about ten years and only fired a rifle and pistol a few times then. So I have no experience.

I'm going with some friends next week to get some experience shooting skeet and maybe try my hand at deer hunting on a friend's land.

I'll be using a .270 if we go hunting, but have never shot one or loaded one. and an 870 Remington Express for shooting skeet.

Any advice on holding the gun, firing, or even loading?

I feel kind of left out because I've never done this before and I'm going to be with experienced guys that literally grew up in the woods. One is a professional hunter and the other a competition skeet shooter.

Don't be scared of the gun kicking. Everytime I've seen someone shoot for the first time (ever or in awhile) they wince before they pull the trigger like the recoil will hurt or something. The only thing it hurts is their aim lol. A 270 doesn't kick that bad and the shotgun shouldn't (you'll be shooting lighter target shells). Other than that just ask the guys. It isn't that hard to figure out, but gun guys are always more than willing to help you learn.

I'm in Blake's camp on this... hunters and shooters are extremely generous and helpful with their knowledge.

As for worrying about flinching, maybe put a few rounds through a .22 rimfire first before moving up to the .270 or the Remmie?

Don't overcompensate the kickback by holding the rifle too softly. Put the butt square into your shoulder. Don't tighten up or the tension will cause you to feel the recoil that much more.

I went hunting with my uncle in Connecticut when I was a kid and we always used his 30-06 or his Marlin 30-30.

He taught me the value of stiff arming the with your weak arm instead of tightening the shoulder.

Happy hunting brother.
