They're all brainwashed by commie professors and teachers before that and then make a beeline to reddit to hear more of the same drivel in their 20's while they shovel mocchiatos and lattes for $9 an hour at starbucks post graduation.

I don’t recall this forum having such an overt political slant 10 years ago.

Most people aren't interested in having any kind of informed discussion anymore. They just want to sit in their echo chamber and cling to the lies they're sold instead of bothering to think for themselves and question anything. People are a lot more conformist than they used to be.
Which is exactly why places like reddit have gotten so popular

I've seen this progress in forums across numerous interests

Every question in Forums has been rehashed over and over.
Forums develop cliques and inherent biases on topics
Forum ownership is mostly a money hemorrhaging enterprise.
Forum members think they are the customers when they are the product (money comes from advertisers or linked marketplace product sales.
Social media has taken the place of forums for many people. Free groups are more cost effective than forum hosting.
Social media platforms will experience this same shift as people migrate to new SM experiences.
