7 Million American Men Carry Cancer-Causing HPV Virus
https://www.nytimes.com/2017/10/16/...rican-men-carry-cancer-causing-hpv-virus.html

The incidence of mouth and throat cancers caused by the human papilloma virus in men has now surpassed the incidence of HPV-related cervical cancers in women, researchers report.

The study, in the Annals of Internal Medicine, found that 11 million men and 3.2 million women in the United States had oral HPV infections. Among them, 7 million men and 1.4 million women had strains that can cause cancers of the throat, tongue and other areas of the head and neck.

The risk of infection was higher for smokers, for people who have had multiple sex partners, and for men who have sex with men. Frequent oral sex also increased the risk. The rate was higher among men who also had genital HPV. (Almost half of men aged 18 to 60 have a genital HPV infection, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.)

Neither age nor income made a difference in high-risk oral infection rates, but rates among non-Hispanic blacks were higher than other races and ethnicities.

HPV vaccination is recommended starting at age 11 or 12 and is effective, said the senior author, Ashish A. Deshmukh, an assistant professor at the University of Florida, and “it’s crucial that parents vaccinate boys as well as girls.”

The lead author, Kalyani Sonawane, also at the University of Florida, said that behavioral change is important, too, particularly smoking cessation. “The difference in oral HPV infection between smokers and nonsmokers is staggering,” she said.

Yes. Boys and girls. My girls got the guardasil. I didn't know boys were getting vaccines until after they left home.

I asked for a test and they said they didn't even do it on males.

I know I have HSV-1 and that's it. I don't even consider that to be a big deal, as I think over 50% of the population has it.

Im kinda ignorant about it, how do you test if you have hpv and how do you fix it?

Do you need medication or our immune system get rid of it by time?

They test for the antibodies to HPV, signs that your immune system is fighting it. Then they tell you that you have a dread disease for life...which will, in all likelihood, show no symptoms, nor will you infect anyone else, at least with warts. There's no cure, or even treatment once you have it. The HPV vaccine for young people is all healthcare has to offer.

The goal of the vaccine for both young men and women is to prevent the spread of the disease because it causes cancer in both sexes.

The meaningful point of the story here is to be very careful what you Eat…
So don’t even think about putting your mouth and/or tongue on a ONL…

Any stats about the % of chances you have to get it if you screw an infected woman?

Whatever that transmission % is, I have no idea, but condoms only reduce it by 50%, whether it's HPV or HSV. That's a dirty little secret that the health authorities try to keep quiet, because they fear that it will erode trust in comdoms and fewer people will use them.
