This is a simple way I wake up in the morning, it works well for me..

Alarm goes off, and you get up to turn it off. Right after that you get an urge to say to hell with my work out, I'll skip today, I want to sleep some more... Right at that time, say to yourself I'm not going to cuddle, I can do that some other time..

As you say cuddle, associate it with going to bed, cuddling a pillow and sleeping.. That wonderful feeling you crave so badly.. ...I can do that some other time..

That is enough to not want to go back to bed..

This works for me if I sleep 8 hours or just 5 hours, it always works..

Ha, I guess whatever it takes Mr.

I think discipline is the thing, and that involves voluntarily experiencing discomfort for the long-term benefits of something. I get out of bed cause I know I have to and I don't feed myself BS about why or how....I just do.

Sucks sometimes, especially now when it's like 40 degrees in the morning. Leaving the warm blankets at 5:30am to go prop a couple hundred lbs of iron on my body is a feat of self-abuse! :D

I'm not much for the "trick yourself" stuff or any other psych nonsense. You just get up since you decided yesterday you should get up at that time. How are you going to do a 20 rep squat if you can't even will yourself out of bed? Weeeak.

For $5 at a hardware or home improvement store you can buy a security timer that's designed to turn lights on and off to make potential burglars think you're home. Buy two of these and plug them into two lamps in your room.

I have a halogen lamp and a fluorescent lamp timed to go off 15 minutes apart, starting 30 min before I want to wake up. Both lamps are close to the window to somewhat appear that the source of the light is from outside, and when the alarm goes off the room is lit, though not so harshly that I want to hide from the light.

It's not perfect, but it's a cheap and easy way to both convince myself that the day is starting and make that tired moment of getting out of bed as painless as possible.

If you really want to take this idea to the next level there are solutions out there.

Here's a better one I use. When I wake up to turn off the alarm, when I turn it off, I turn on the light. I might be dozing off for another 5 minutes, but I can't sleep with the light on. The psycho-physiological responses in your body with will wake you up from the response from light.

roll out of bed, do 50 pushups, and take an ice cold shower. I don't do it often, but it's always worked :D
