How to rent a car when under 25?

Girlfriend wants to visit, gets charged a ridiculous amount of money to rent a car because she's under 25. How do we get her here?

Cough up the extra money they are charging you. I had to deal with it to at one point.

Does she not have any friends or family that she could borrow a car from? If not, then public transport is the way to go.

In my experience most rental firms have a by the day young driver surcharge, which is usually $5 per day, find a firm that does this. I know Avis do as I rented a car when I was away. If you aren't willing to pay or can't afford to, then the bus it is. You've mentioned it's 300 miles, thats one expensive uber.
