I don't think just more calories will work. My baseline is prob around 2000-2200 and to gain weight the app put the goal at 2500 kcals. Now I'd say I eat regularly around 2800-3000 kcals per day, so from an calories standpoint I should gain weight all the time. But I don't. Eating more when your body doesn't actually builds it into the body is not effective.

More carbs are def. a point to work on. The question is only from where?
More calories will work. The problem is you are resisting eating the amount of food required to gain mass. Clearly, you need to eat more.

I suggest you make a few changes:

-Eat oatmeal for breakfast. Add some peanut butter, honey or agave nectar, then whatever else you’d like to make it taste good

-For lunch and dinner, eat a protein source and shove as much white rice and beans as you can into your mouth. White rice is a potent weight gainer because it is easy to digest and you can pack it in. Don’t worry about all the health shvt, you can switch to brown or black rice after you reach your target weight.

For vegetables, find the easiest to digest that your body can tolerate.

-Go to the store and buy gallon jugs of whole milk. If you’re lactose intolerant get the lactose free stuff. You are going to ditch all other beverages and drink this between meals. Drink your water during workouts. For everything else, drink milk.

Pack it in my friend. Milk, oats, rice. Milk, oats, rice. Milk, oats, rice.

You guys recommended getting MyFitnessPal to track calories. I did that immediately and have now 5 days of data.
You guys said I should do benchpresses with barbells instead of dumbbells. Now I started with them and do both.
Squats have been in my routine since the beginning of the year.
In the beginning a guy also said doing more sets/reps helps. I adjusted my workout for that.
I restarted using protein shakes since like a week or so. (according to the app MyFitnessPal that got recommended here my protein intake is sufficient. More so if I drink my protein shake. I'm also incorporating more carbs now.)

I'd say I did implement some of the things you guys said.
But you also need to understand that it shouldn't interfere with the other things I have to do. I can't eat a huge meal for lunch when I have to get back to studying for my exams in an engineering degree. Being bloated would suck out too much time I cannot afford rn.

I also mentionned multiple times that when I was on vacation where excercise/rest/food were in perfect conditions, but nothing sticked.

Creatine doesn't make sense to me rn, I watched a few YT-videos on them and it's a nice to have but it's not that effective long-term speaking.

I know all those things sound like excuses, but they're also factors one has to count in. Calling me not committed is just unfair, since I've been going to the gym regularly for well 2 years now and have been watching my diet so that it's healthy/balanced and with a sufficient protein intake. It's frustrating to me, but if I have to plan my whole day around measuring on the gramm precise the carbs/fats/proteins then that's too much effort. I also don't think it makes that much of a difference.
I promise you I mean no disrespect. I speak to you the way I speak to my son who is a couple years older than you. I'd take a bullet for that guy. I believe your heart and intentions are in the right place but my point is that the words we use when we speak to ourselves and others mean something. If not outright, then subconsciously. If you don't want something as bad as your next breath, you will give up at the first sign of adversity. As men, especially on this board, we hold our fellow brothers to account as painful as it can be sometimes. If we were women we would fill you full of BS and tell you, "You go girl," "You deserve better girl." None of it's your fault girlfriend." Most women don't hold other women accountable. The reason half the women in my country are overweight is because her girlfriends and society tell her she's beautiful no matter what. Everyone on this board wants to see you succeed. I'm certainly rooting for you. I say this from experience and with love brother. I'll leave you with this famous quote...…..

“Until one is committed, there is hesitancy, the chance to draw back, always ineffectiveness. Concerning all acts of initiative (and creation), there is one elementary truth, the ignorance of which kills countless ideas and splendid plans: that the moment one definitely commits oneself, then Providence moves too. All sorts of things occur to help one that would never otherwise have occurred. A whole stream of events issues from the decision, raising in one's favour all manner of unforeseen incidents and meetings and material assistance, which no man could have dreamt would have come his way. I have learned a deep respect for one of Goethe's couplets:
Whatever you can do, or dream you can, begin it.
Boldness has genius, power, and magic in it!”

Unfortunately, a lot of people gave incorrect info.

if you're not doing it yourself and you're just assuming, you ain't gone get NO RESULTS, just quit while your ahead and blame your genes. I study mathematics for my bachelors, so I doubt your engineering classes are impossible to do bloated. And please tell me you live by yourself and have a full time job, cuz then of course you'd be too busy. This is going to take EXTREME amounts of Discipline and Hard Work, Consistency and for a long period of time. Muscles aren't made in a day.

You're gonna feel bloated. You're gonna burn money. You're gonna stay up late eating your meals. You're gonna wanna barf. You WILL barf. You're gonna have to sacrifice. If it's too much for you dude, just give up, it was NEVER for you, simple. Even Arnold Schwarzenegger threw up and fainted in the gym.

I still do it, maybe we're just different people, different genes, different IQs, and DEFINITELY different amounts of effort we want to give.
It's your health; it should be AS IMPORTANT as your degree, if not more.

At the end of the day a person can choose to get results or choose to give excuses. A person can only choose one or the other, not both.
