How to deal with a bad memory and lack of inspiration at a young age

Hey, guys. Well, I'm a 15 year old freshmen in High School and I have a problem, that definitely effects my life. Yep, I have a bad memory, for instance - Say there's a big social event and I go to it, I remember little bits and pieces of it, but don't really remember every moment or alot of things that happened while I was there. Also, I have a hard time focusing, for instance, when the teachers in class giving a lecture, its hard for me to really take in what he says, like I'll be looking at him and I'll hear what hes saying, but it seems to "Go in one ear and out the other" in a sense. It's the same with alot of things, when I talk to people or see a beautiful girl, I'll remember them, but not in full detail, like I'll try to remember what they look like later on, even the setting that it happened in and it will be a blurry, incomplete image and I'll have a hard time remembering alot of the things that happened/where said while we were talking.

I'm sorry if I'm seem like I'm *****ing guys, but here's one more thing, I'd really like advice on improving. "Excitement, Inspiration and fun." seem to be lacking for a guy like me. Take this for instance, I'm good at guitar and while I'm good at, it'll start boring me after a good 15 minutes. It's the same with homework, video games and books, I just can't bring myself to complete them, because there's nothing inspiring me to do so. Now, women, are one of the reasons I go to school. Another thing that inspires me to go to school is the track team, its physically active, exciting and gets me pumped; not like many other things. But away from school, even with all these 'yet-to-be-finished' video games and books and instruments in my room, I still find myself, bored.

So what am I seeking? Some advice here! Like, how can I improve my memory, how can I make my life more exciting? Advice on these subjects would really help me out.

Things to note that might help out with a reply:
-Lack of focus, seems to effect my conversational and social related skills.
-I don't go outside alot.
-I don't get alot of sleep. Usually only get about 2-5 hours in.
-Have a hard time making decisions and I'm usually more comfortable when other people make these decisions for me. It's usually hard for me to make self-decisions.

If your having memory problems see a docter, make sure it's one that isn't in to just throwing drugs at you though.

It's not that serious of a memory problem, I don't think. Infact, I know it's not serious to the point I need to see a doctor.

Viper, it seems like you might need to branch out and try many new things so that you can discover your "passion." By passion, I mean something that you are naturally good at and naturally enjoy so much that you feel fulfilled and purposeful by doing it. This may take a while to discover but you have to be patient. Start trying things that you've never thought about doing before and try some things that you have thought about but have been afraid to do (as long as they are legal and healthy ::wink::). It sounds like you might be going through a slight depression. Maybe you also need to talk to a counselor or a trustworthy adult about how you feel.

Congratulations for taking the first step to improve yourself. Identifying a problem is a good first step to improving yourself.

I felt like I had major memory problems during HS. My friends always made fun of me for it, and sometimes life seemed to go by in a blur.

When I went overseas for a year between HS and college, I slowly began to change. The challenge of talking Spanish day in and day out, more social opportunities, along with a lot more independence and trying new things every day helped me to gain a better outlook and be much more focused.

I used to worry that I wasn't normal, that there was something wrong with my brain, but now I realize I wasn't doing enough with my brain, so it was weak from lack of exercise.

In today's society when we talk about "exercising your brain" most people of doing crossword puzzles, reading books, doing trigonometry. Hey, doing stuff like that isn't bad for you in itself, but try cutting down on those activities and make more room for socializing, excercise, adventure.

Are you shy? If you are, making an effort to talk to people and become more social can open up a new world for you. Being a part of after-school activities is a good idea.

Some other stuff:
-I agree with seabreeze searching for some new hobbies can make your life interesting
-Don't be afraid of the unknown. Embrace it and try a new thing every day. It might be a new food, talking to someone you don't know, or going somewhere you've never been before.
-Do a search on this site on raising testosterone levels(excercise, competition,less masturbation, etc)
-Meditation... try the book "How to Meditate"
