How to ask out a hairstylist at work?

A few weeks ago I got my hair cut. I really liked the stylist. She shared a good bit of personal info and such (not unusual for a hair stylist to be chatty of course), but I couldn't figure out if it was ok to simply ask her out since I was in there as a customer. I have since gotten my hair cut again somewhere else but I pass this shop all the time and I still would at least like the chance for her to shoot me down. Any thoughts on how to ask someone out in this situation?

I would also like to know someone else's experience with this.

If anything, I'll just go for it next time. I always see cute girls when I get my hair cut, I'm sure all I have to do is grab my balls and approach her.

Just like any other hired gun, you have to make her see you as more than someone who brings in money. Be open and personal while you're in the chair, get her to open up about her personal life. When you're done you should know enough about her (i.e. does she have a boyfriend, is she insane) to be comfortable enough to ask her for her number. Just gotta do it.

Only problem with going back there again is the haircut wasn't all that great. Life is risk. Just like in any other situation, you have to strike at the earliest opportunity, because you never know if you're going to get another one.

go get your haircut by her again. after it is finished and you have paid her, you could say something like:

do I have to wait until my hair gets too long to see you again?

!then do not speak! wait for her to answer, which you will obviously get.

if she turns you down, you can always just ask her if it is because you have such a terrible haircut :) if she doesnt find that funny, you wouldnt want to go out with her anyway. you cant lose.

Don't always be the one putting yourself out for her. Don't always be the one putting all the effort and work into the relationship. Let her, and expect her, to treat you as well as you treat her, and to improve the quality of your life.

Umm, this is really a difficult one. I hate these situations. You cannot mess up because you will see her again...
