Holy crap. Stop blaming everyone else for your problems. TIME TO GET BACK IN TOUCH WITH REALITY.

Yes, we are all dealt a hand in life. But guess what? WE are all given the choice of what to do with that hand! Nobody is FORCING us to go out and be homogenous. People choose to do that themselves! They choose to go to a university and then get a "good, safe" job! Then, there are those who choose to buck the trend, and contrary to being "punished" by the "man", they get to live the true dream of American capitalism!

If you are still the same person now as you were in high school and you still look at everything the same way, it's your own fault. You have the power to change yourself in EVERY WAY POSSIBLE. Since HS, I have grown physically, spiritually, emotionally, and pretty much every other way, and I continue to do so. I'm only 20, and thus I have at least 60 years left on this lease unless God has other plans for me. I refuse to waste those years by being homogenous and staying stagnant.

Again, stop *****ing about how we are controlled and programmed into thinking we are worthless. If you want to reprogram yourself, the tools you need are as close as your local Barnes and Noble, or amazon.com, or city library, and if YOU are *****ing about this yet YOU don't go there and do something about it, then YOU deserve to have your lease on life torn up and eaten. Where's your police state now?

The way to make change happen is to make it happen from WITHIN. Don't like what the media pushes? BECOME the media. Become a newscaster, radio host, TV actor, movie actor, or even an internet blogger. With the continued growth of the internet, free thought and free speech has NEVER been easier to access. And how do you get the word out there? ADVERTISING! The same stuff you folks rail against in your little rants about the big bad societal programmers! Make the "enemy" a friend, and nobody stands a chance! Don't like manipulation? BECOME the manipulator and manipulate people into thinking for themselves!

The "system" has always been, and always will be! There will always be the more influential and the less influential; this isn't communism! And for pete's sake, you live in the UNITED STATES! It's easier for your everyday man to become a great influence on society here than it is in pretty much any other nation! If you can't figure out how to achieve your goals outside of "the system" in this country, than you are an idiot! The resources are EVERYWHERE! Use them!!!

MetalFortress, I agree.

But answer me this ... if it is all up to us, that the life of our dreams is just sitting there waiting for us to claim it, then why do so few people ever act on this fact?

Doesn't it make more sense that these people would instead take full advantage of the freedom and opportunity you say they have?

Self-defeating behavior is illogical and wrong, so what could cause such a fvcked up way of thinking?

Well, I think I can easily summarize what A-unit said.

School is basically one class that lasts a very long time. Namely, it's "How to be a B|tch 101."

In college, in the last two years, you MIGHT learn something that will be useful later on. But before then, it's not likely.

While you didn't really give any recommendations in your post, I'll give one here: TEACH KIDS HOW TO WRITE THE ENGLISH LANGUAGE.

For the love of god, please remove all spell-checkers from the school computers. College graduates cannot even spell anymore.

You don't have to look farther than many of the posts on sosuave.

I can only hope that what Italostud said about spelling is some strange idea for a joke. But what I've observed in general seems to back up his point. I don't use spell-checking features, because I've never needed it. But if it weren't for my parents to help me when I was younger, then I don't know if I'd be able to say that. It was my parents, and not school that helped me develop a large vocabulary and not need a spell-checker.

Even at my high school many of the students there were concerned with "big words." It was shocking, at least to me. I hope things have changed since I last attended, but I doubt it.

This may sound a little funny, but that doesn't make it any less true:

While I like learning, I hate school.

yes dyslexia or a poor spelling/learning system could be manipulated to make a cleaver child feel stupid.

a disturbing thought makes me think that this isn't a new idea.

btw you all scored 1 out of 10 for all your posts so far.

please try harder like the others. ;-)

No balls, that's why. They are too comfortable in their "comfort zone" to go out and do something that would require breaking out of it. It's the same reason why many guys stay AFCs.

Great point A-unit. I like your way of thinking deep into what we are.

What could be a solution to this? How can a man do something that requires balls if he doesn't have them? I can only hope that there's something else out there that can motivate, because if there's no way around this paradox, then we're talking about fate.
