How should I handle this small approach situation?

I met this girl about a week ago at freshman orientation. I never see her on campus at all, except two times between classes. We both are walking completely different directions. She smiles, I smile, and we keep going. With 5 minutes between classes, there isn't a lot of time to talk. Every time I've seen her, she's been on her cell phone.....

Anyway, I never got her number.... (I have no excuse) but that's what I'm looking to do. How should I approach the situation if she's on her phone, going the other way, with like 3 seconds of free time?

Flag her down, hand her your phone, and assume she'll know what to do.

If she doesn't understand, say something like, "Since you're always on your phone, I figure the only way to get in touch with you is with your number. Put it in."

^^^ What he said. It's no joke.

Can use phone or paper and pen. All women are on cell phones. Because they're anxious when they don't have that social umbrella around them. Whatever they're used to having. That smile is IOI, so go for it, very low risk.

Another thing. Just because she's on the phone don't mean she won't talk to you. Try it out.

Alright, that's what I'll try.

Stuntmann, how do you open the convo with her if she's on her phone though?
It would probably be best to ignore the phone entirely. If she wants to talk to you, she'll put them on hold/call them back.

If not... uh... do what I said before and walk away. No words required.
