How should I go about asking this girl to homecoming?

So there's this girl I know from band named Marissa who I'm thinking about taking to homecoming, but I'm not sure how to ask her. I don't know much about the girl right now, other than the fact that she's one of those flag girls(Not sure what the actual name for that is), she has a brother who's in my grade who's also in band and she used to play the piano. We've only had one serious encounter before, where she randomly approached before band practice one day. In my opinion I'd say the girl is an HB8. Enough about that, how should I ask her to homecoming? Should I just have a conversation with her and straight up ask her or should I get to know her a little more before I ask her?

hey man, wat you gta do is give her eye contact, put yourself into situations wher ure gna bump into her, like 'hey its u' and start talkin to her!

Then you can ask her out to homecoming! Make sure you go as a date instead of friends cus that aint right goin as friends!

Not exactly sure about the first reply, but I like your advice soniq. Any tips on staying outside of the friend zone? Why? Because I don't want a friend, I want a date to homecoming.

However, you can start by not waiting for and talking to her every chance you get, thats what friends do.
