Dude, take it from a former gamer, Get out while you're still in school. Focus on school and work out a plan with your parents if they are paying for college/uni.

Games are the biggest waste of time, Fun as hell, but nothing really comes out of it. Trust me. CS was nothing compared to my Battlefield 1942(desert combat mod) addiction. i had clans from all over literally hiring me as a chopper pilot merc.

But no matter what, after college i'll still make a **** load more than i ever could have as a gaming merc.

for OP, i'm in college right now, but i have an offer from Embridge gas, 50k a year as a G2 Tech to start once i'm done college. And that's not counting any freelance work i do as a contractor.

Mine's an oddball job. Just to make a few bucks while I'm in uni, not looking to make it a career.

It's 8hrs/week @ $25, under the table. Started recently.

The Marriott hotel here on the coast has a huge artificial salt-water lagoon, complete with tropical fish and pretty much an entire ecosystem. Stuff like that needs cleaning though. I put on scuba gear and clean/scrub/maintain the lagoon. Two 4 hour sessions a week, spending most of it submerged.

---
---

Over the summer break(december-february), I might do fruit picking. Wake up at 530am, pick fruit from 6am-1pm at roughly $12-15/hr, 5 days a week.

I used to work in a bar back in Canada at $14.50/hr + tips, up to $10 per hour.
---
---

None of those jobs are something to make a career out of. The only thing I'd consider doing full-time is bartending, and even that is a pretty demanding job if your in a busy establishment.

I am in sales for a software company. Made just under $150,000 US last year. Should beat that this year but not by much- maybe another $8K-$10K.

Futures Trader (daytrading) . No salary, so I can only project my annual salary at somewhere around $50-$100k for next year.

This year has been a long hard road. Just starting to pull in $400-$1000 per week recently.

Im student, I work casually in a hardware store at $20p/h, I gotta get out of there as it gets too hot working outdoors during summer. However, because we operate in the construction industry we take less sh1t from the customers and a lot of my azzhole co-workers will mouth-off at people on the slightest provocation, making it easier in that sense.

Compared to when I worked as a coffee maker for $10p/h under the table. More of a "customer is right" ethos at that place, more women customers too which means you get more b1tches with foul attitudes.

I assist with research at my university. Pays about 250 euros a week, for about 5 hours' worth of work, and possibly one out-of-town trip a month to look for material in other university libraries. I think they think I work a lot more hours than I do to earn my 250 a week, but I get the work done extremely quickly (so they tell me), so oh well.

The downsides are that I had to beat out 400 other applicants from my department to land this job, and the funding for the research topic runs out very soon.

Well I'm still in school so I'm working a temp job right now to kill extra time and get a little spending money. I only make $8 an hour (not bad in rural KY) and bring home around 265-270 a week. No where near a lot of money, but that will all change in time.
