Like after bills are paid how much do you allocate aside for going out to bars, clubs, group gatherings, dates, etc etc?

And in comparison how much do you save?

This may require some transparency into your finances so if you don't want to answer I understand.

I generally save 10% of my income, and I blow about 5% on dating and 5% on partying.

It's best to talk about what we spend in terms of percentages and hours, to keep things relative.

The problem with using dollar amounts is, one person spending $400 on a date will seem shocking to someone who earns $400 a week, but both might spend the same percentage. For some reason people here want to apply absolutes to prices, but it's all about how many hours you had to work to get whatever you acquired.

You only save 10% of your income? You make close to 250k a year and only save 25,000 a year?
And you spend 25,000 a year on dating and partying?

Must be some awesome dates and parties..

Now you are getting way off topic and intrusive.
Sorry, I just recall from old posts about how much you make and those numbers you posted seem a tad bit irresponsible.

PLEASE don't turn this into a flamewar. I don't want to beef. That comment was not backhanded.

Just speaking my mind.
It's the only way i know how to live.:)

Where I live, people are poor and sh!t is cheap. It would be hard for me to blow a grand a month. I do whatever I want for a lot less than that.

Southern Illinois. When my bike was running, motorcycle rides were easy dates. Living in a rural area makes bike ownership a lot better. Riding in traffic sucks.

My typical date is two drinks at a bar. Either the woman wants to fvck, or she doesn't. Two drinks should be all it takes to answer that question. I'm not courting anyone for marriage, or trying to impress anyone. I usually meet girls off craigslist, so it's not like they are looking for a husband. Ironically, I have had LTRs, or at least multi-year fb arrangements, several times from my craigslist one-night stands. I've never spent much money on any of them. Typically they end up spending more money on me.

If I want it I do it or buy it. But I'm not stupid about it. I don't have a percentage set aside for frivolous extras like dating.

20-25% goes to living expenses like bills and mortgage car motorcycle purchases etc..

25% goes to every other thing like dating golf concerts vacations classes taken life in general.

The other 50% goes to savings and investments.

That's all after the Feds take their 33% and the state takes their 13%

I budget 10% but have always gone over up until now. The one thing I need really get sorted out is my finances. So life limiting once you've spent all your money until payday. Time for change.

I was saving over 20% but it's about to drop to like 5-10% because I moved to a more sustainable apartment and upgraded in to another car.
