Despite the age I do have some bar experience and access from working at them.

I agree with TyTe about the pre-drinks.

I normally don't have a set amount of what I'm going to drink on an occasion. I drink however much I feel like if I've taken pre cautions of having a ride home etc.

But I do stick to only buying a couple beers at a bar/club if I've been previously drinking. It's a lot cheaper that way.

4-5 drinks if I haven't drank previously. Enough to catch a buzz, but not go broke

Does the m in your name stand for Mobile?

when i was younger, a cop once told me i should be dead from alchohol poisoning.

Yeah, that was a wakeup call :p

Now though, a mickey will get me buzzed. it takes a 40 all in one night to really trash me though.

What we used to do though is get Texas Mickeys. Now THAT was a mission. :S

I like to drink about 6 to 10 Miller Lites before we even go to the bar. The more you pre-drink, the less you have to drink at the bar.
Yeah. I usually have a quarter bottle of vodka before hitting the bars and clubs as drink there is so feckin' expensive!

I didn't think I was going to survive two weeks when I visited Republic of Georgia. They have a bottle of cognac on the BREAKFAST table, for christsakes.

I might be headed to the UK and Spain next May. I better save a few brain cells and a little bit of my liver for that trip.
Then again, Georgia isnt even close to representative for Europe. Its some sort of warmongered, semirussian, easterneuropean country.

But, yes europeans (when I say europeans, i basically mean western-europeans), such as meself do have different drinking habits then in other parts of the world. Different meaning more. But alcohol is so ****ing incredibly expensive in Norway so you cant really drink alot when your out. I try to get in that amount that makes me "happy" on the preparty and nurse a few drinks when we go out.

I've also been to Holland, Czech Republic, and Germany.

I didn't exactly "party with the locals" in the first two, but Oktoberfest was a sight to behold. Saw an old dude stumble out of a beer garden and crack his head on the pavement. You could hear it from 30 feet away. And the Italians there were fukking OBNOXIOUS drunks. I won't even get started on the Brits in Amsterdam in the RLD......

I suppose it isn't a whole lot different that any given Saturday night on Bourbon St in New Orleans, but damn, from what I've seen, Europeans can DRINK.

And it does wonders for your confidence.

So does alcohol. Quite honestly, I couldn't put up with the bar/club atmosphere if I wasn't hammered.

I know what you mean, Elor, but you have to understand, it isn't just a confidence issue with me. I can pick up chicks while sober and actually prefer to do so...just not in a bar/club. It's extremely difficult for me to deal with the loud music, roided up frat boys and shoulder-to-shoulder atmosphere while sober.

If I go into a bar or club sober, I literally can't function. Not because I'm intimidated, but because it's just too much for my senses to take. The loud music, the droves of people, the drunkenness of others, the vibe of the place - it all just distracts the hell out of me.

If I don't have something to take the edge off I'll just sit there wide-eyed and overly aware of my surroundings. I won't talk to anyone, not even the people I'm with.

Also, on a typical night of drinking, I don't approach .35 on the breathalyzer. That was just a rough night.

Usually, I will pregame about 7-8 beers or shots, then have probably six or seven drinks when I'm out on a weekend night. Though, that can change quickly with circumstances or friends who show up to drink.

When I was working behind the bar I'd have endless ****tails bought for me, though I learned early on not to get drunk while working... After an hour of bliss, it turns into pain and agony until closing, around 2AM.

After that, I always limit myself to 6 shots of whatever, spread out over the night.

Now that I'm done with that job, I barely drink at all even when going out. If the occasion--birthday party, etc.--comes along, I'll load up my 6oz flask with some Grey Goose or Skyy and sip on that the whole night.

If we have friends over I just drink a Guinness or two. For a few more months I'm going 0 alcohol, getting rid of some bodyfat.

Here's a tip for those that can't have a good time without alcohol:

Go out to a bar or club 4 nights a week and just talk to random people. Don't even try to approach or anything, just focus on meeting random people and having a good time. Make sure you don't drink anything. After a few weeks, as little as 3 weeks even, you'll be able to get into that vibing state of mind without needing the booze.

Working in a bar, many times without drinking, taught me how to get into the right state of mind. It's a stupid trap to fall into to need alcohol in your system to be able to have a good time!

I cut way back on the drinking recently because I just started working out again and wasn't dropping the pounds as fast as I would like, but I totally agree with you.

There have been times when I have not made it out until after my friends were already 90% tanked, and when that happens its like being an adult walking into a room full of rowdy kids.

Really, I can't picture myself in a full-on night out without having a few drinks in me to be able to assimilate into and enjoy my surroundings.

Create self-fulfilling prophecies. Always assume the positive. Assume she likes you. Assume she wants to talk to you. Assume she wants to go out with you. When you think positive, positive things happen.

I work in the alcohol industry, so believe me when I say that I can completely understand the trend of "pre-boozing" in this day & age. It's simple practicality when a high ball or a martini runs $9 to $15 on a weekend (hell, a damn domestic beer will cost you $4 at some places)at a decent club. Throw in a $1-2 tip per drink and you could buy a 750ml bottle of our premium brand for cost of 2 drinks out.

However, people don't want to go out sober, thus "pre-boozing" is just economical.

When we pregame at the dorms I just drink until I'm close to throwing up...not like "alcohol poisoning" throwing up but more like "this stuff tastes gross" throwing up. Not a huge fan of the taste of alcohol especially the cheap vodka we get in college. Give me Morgan and I'll be pleased.

I've realized there's a double-edged sword to this topic. I'm sick as hell and went to a bar/club cold sober tonight for maybe the fifth time in my life. I noticed so many girls giving me looks or IOIs, more than I've ever seen before. I wasn't even dressed nice. I was just wearing a track jacket and jeans.

The downside to drinking at a club is pretty clear to me now. When you're drunk, your senses are dull as hell and you don't pick up on things as easily. But at the same time, the scene is too chaotic to focus in on a conversation.

I remember about a year or two ago, I went out completely sober and noticed this too. A bad trade-off, but I guess that's kind of the nature of it all.

I totally agree. I don't need to pre-game but I like to start drinking as I enter the bar. Also I would feel a little weird spending a night in a bar and not buying any drinks. I guess you could get soda.

enough to relax...

...and that's it. I have the digestive system of a 100 year old man, and I'd never risk throwing up (or getting a sudden case of the runs) in public.

At this point you probably have a woman (or multiple women) chasing you around, calling you all the time, wanting to be with you. So let's talk about how to KEEP a woman interested in you once you have her. This is BIG! There is nothing worse than getting dumped by a woman that you really, really like.
