I'm in love with my computer right now. It's lasted me 5 years. I built it over the years with bits and pieces I picked out of the trash or peoples lawns. In fact, we're celebrating our 5th anniversary in a few weeks.
I know what you mean. I still have the first computer that I ever assembled. I figure that using the Slot 1 architecture is part of its personality, so in that PC I'm not going to ever put a motherboard in there that isn't Slot 1. I remember the awesome feeling when I made it work on June 1st, 1998. In a few years it'll be hopelessly obsolete (like the 386), but I don't think I'm ever going to get rid of it.
Of course, I have other computers so it's no longer my primary system (My primary is based off of the Socket 940 Opteron architecture.).
I even still have the Win NT 4.0 disk I used with the first system I built (Hey, it was 1998. Nothing better was available.).
