How many are buying before the coming gun control?

I'd buy a Kimber 1911 or .243 rifle. Kimber's the best. However, I don't know if I should own a gun. I'm a little immature, and I know it. I'm a man, but immature nonetheless. Decisions with a gun are life and death ones, even your own death - blink of an eye, it could happen.

Assault rifles are for injuring masses of people. Unless you think a mob is going to attack your house, why the fvck do you need an assault weapon?
What the hell should I use? A f*cking BB gun? Do you even know what an assault rifle is?

As far as your argument that we should all be shooting muzzle loaders because that's what the framers of the Constitution used, is asinine. Those guys were smart enough to know that technology would develop. How are you going to meet a threat unless you have the same or better capability as the aggressor? How am I going to shoot a muzzle loader when an assailant and 5 of his thugs busts down my door with machine guns? Use your head man.

That's the thing the anti-gun guys don't understand. You need something at least on par with what the criminal is using, preferably a better weapon though. The fact of the matter is things like that are life and death, I'd rather have a weapon that tilts the odds of walking away alive in my favor.

Not to mention high-cap magazines are also extremely useful. True, most fights only involve a handful of shots but what if it goes beyond that? Time spent reloading is time spent defenseless

I just get tired of this talk of the oh-so-dangerous assault rifles (aka: any scary looking gun). Hell, truthfully some of the most dangerous guns out there are hunting rifles, and they're pretty tame looking

There's a pdf file on the internet on how to make a 9mm submachine gun. It's illegal to make, btw. So don't even think about it. I think the name of the book is Homemade Expedient Firearms.

We are armed to the teeth down here in the South, btw. I think we'll be able to take care of ourselves if worse comes to worse. There are people who drive around here with carloads full of heat for sale. You just have to know the right people. If Washington ever did do something as foolhardy as try to take our guns away you would have 1861 all over again. I don't think it's in the cards at this point. But they will try and use all sorts of sneaky backdoor ways of taking our guns away. Ways that rednecks like us will not be able to pick up on until it's too late. The pen is mightier than the sword is what they say.
:nono:

Do they get the Discovery Channel down there in 'ol Dixie? Ever seen "Futureweapons"?

Grandpa's 30-30 and Bubba's AK-M aren't going to do shit against the gov't. They will fucking kill you.

Yeah, thats why I didn't really mention it, its good close up, and could be kept in addition to a tazer, but has many disadvantages like you said.

I get it you're probably a limey (no offense to the sensible Brits on here). Dumbest thing England did was let the colonist keep their guns. You should keep your gun control opinions on that side of the pond :D.

But seriously even if you're not a Brit it's impossible to have a sensible discussion with gun control advocate. Their ideas are nuttier than the militia/survivalists types. There's just so many things you said that are off base. Ak's and Ar's are not fully automatic, they're rarely used in crimes especially against civilians, most terroristacts/mass killings are done by handguns and explosives which are illegal..
All right. First of all i didnt understand anything of that first sentence. Second of all, its not possible to have a sensible discussion with a gun control advocat JUST like its not possible to have one with a gun nut.

Oh thats nice, Im glad you know me on a personal level. You know absolutely nothing about me or who I am, or what I would do. So think before you post fool.

TO EVERYONE COMPLAINING ABOUT TAZERS: Please do some research before you make an ass out of yourself. Im obviously not talking about contact tazers, but I guess you all just assumed that I did in lack of arguments.

ANYWAYS. Im talking about tazers that can hit a person 15 +++ feet away.
I quote:
TAZERS® aka TASER® Weapons fire a 50,000 volt electronic
non-lethal defensive stungun force from a safe distance
up to 15 feet away with 50,000 volts of stopping power
with the highest effectiveness and laser sight accuracy.

50,000 volts is enough to render any grown man unconcious, so NO, you wouldnt be able to rape someone after that.

Oh and I like how none of quoted the part where I explained how weapons have killed lots of innocent children, students, teachers or accidental suicide. Im guessing you just dont really care about the fact that 8 year old kids are shooting themselves in their head with an mini uzi, because of the recklessness of their parents or lack of control from the government. This was at a WEAOPONS FAIR for gods sake, its supposed to be a controlled enviroment, yet these things happen. And yet you have more weapon fairs, and gun organizations that spread propaganda and fail to tell the entire truth. I like america in many ways, but sometimes, the sheer ignorance and the fµcked up ideas you have over there appall me.

Just because something is dangerous or can be improperly handled doesn't change the fact it has useful purposes. Cars are dangerous and kill a lot of people too, but you don't ban them because they have utility. You're just unwilling to accept guns have utility too in ways you're not willing to comprehend.

Can you hop in an assault rifle and drive to wal-mart? NO.
Were cars designed to kill? NO.
Were guns designed to kill? Yes. And that's is also their only purpose.

I plan to buy a handgun when I move out of my parents house. I believe in being able to protect myself, and whoever is in the house at the time. My family is BIG on guns. Like most rich families in third world countries, they're stocked on guns, semi-automatic, pistols, AR's, rifles, whatever you name em, they got it. They love to go hunting, but it was also to protect themselves from thieves, AND warlords, gangs, war was always on the horizon. Other than that, the only gun that usually came out were the rifles for hunting.

Just a bit of my observations.
WTH?

lol ketostix. Ummm the 1st Amendment is like that, x=hate speech, y=threats z=racism, so your 1st amendment argument fell through the rough:cool: .

lol I must be blind or something, cuz I think your the only one who sees the slippery slope.
Who determines what's hate speech and racism and what isn't?

I doubt anyone who owns "sports cars" get in fatal accidents as much as your average ignorant unattentive driver driving a honda civic.
Same argument applies to people who purchase and own "assault" weapons.

I lol'ed at your logic.
It wasn't just logic it was fact.

To Jon

If the criminals are going to jail only to come back out and commit the same crimes, don't you think we need to solve the root of the problem? The justice system and society? But **** yeah, if I got robbed at my house, I would instantly buy a gun the next day.
You're going to be waiting a long time on that solution to the root problem. So you would go out an buy a gun. Are you for gun control or not? Make up your mind.

Thats funny, I'm not sure where you got your stats from, but the ATF collected 60,000 AR's in the ten years the Brady Act was enacted.

http://www.bradycampaign.org/facts/issues/?page=aw_renew
AR'S are not automatic firing. It's obvious you know nothing about these guns yet you have preconceived notions about them anyway.

LOL. I doubt the original framers thought that technology would accelerate at this rate, do you even believe the kinda **** we have today would have been possible in 50's, 60's, 70's, 80's, or even the ****ing 90's?
Well the AR came out in the 60's and some people think it's predecessor from the 50's and even the one before that from the 40's was a better weapon. The 2nd amendment was standing when the machine gun came out around 1900. The point is you are putting a new interpretation on the constitution. that's a common thing liberal thinking people do.

Again, I have to highly doubt the situations you guys keep throwing. This thread is full of lol. How many stories have you heard of 5 thugs coming in with machine guns, yes its a honest questions, its a dare. Scourge the internet.
who said that? But even if it was just two guys with knifes I'd like to be holding an AR rather than a stun gun.

So whats the big deal about banning AR's? Their obviously not for self defense.

Man you guys are a good laugh.
Not for self-defense? What a joke. The big deal is there's no good reason to ban them despite all the fear-mongering. It's a continued infringement on the 2nd amendment and the ultimate goal is total banning of all firearms. But hey if you don't like the constitution and you don't like gun ownership there's plenty of other countries that don't have either you could live in. why are some people so bent on making America socialist too?

Guns WERE MEANT TO KILL PEOPLE.

Ever since they've been invented all they've done is kill people more efficiently.

You are not living in Alaska, without a grocery store hundreds of miles away, you don't have to hunt to eat.

Car's are meant for transportation, our economy, and any other rising economy, will have to rely on vehicular transportation.

Please inform us O' Ketostix of the many, MANY uses of assault rifles.
Well when you need to kill an armed burglar I guess a car is all you need. You're right, the framers of the constitution are fools and the constitution is outdated and irrelevant. The framers knew what arms were 'for", but they were just idiots.

An AR is just a gun that needs no justification anymore than any other gun such as a pistol. You come from a big government socialist mentality and I don't.

You guys do realize that if someone breaks into your house and finds your gun you are in a whole wack of trouble... If you plan to keep your gun under your pillow at night, you might just wake up dead one day. What if your kid gets a hold of the gun and shoots himself, a friend or a sibling?

Fvck guns. Grow some balls instead. Guns are not a GOD given right. If you are soo paranoid buy a sword, hammer or a police baton... I have a broom handle that I could take most people out with in under a few seconds.. God I'm glad I was born in Canada.

Get your family into martial arts if you're so concerned about their safety. If everyone in the house has a black belt, its not likely a rapist or burglar will have a fighting chance, gun or no.. Besides, I've never heard of anyone accidentally killing themselves with a karate chop.

My pistol stays in my night stand. If I need it, it's there. Another thing, responsible gun owners with kids teach them proper gun safety.

Your karate kicks aren't stopping bullets...I don't care how big your balls are, fuzz. You have obviously never been a victim of a violent crime.

That's a baseless argument really. The 2nd amendment gave the right to have arms that were on par with anything the government or military had at the time. watering it down to only semi-automatic rifles is far enough as it is. The 2nd amendment doesn't mean you can only own muskeets. using that logic the 1st amendment meant you can only say x,y or z, but not a through w. If you can't trust sane law abiding Americans with a 2nd amendement right you can't trust them with a 1st amendment right either. Don't you see the slippery slope you are on?

Right now, Congress debates the extensions of the 1st amendment towards the internet, and people argue whether the right to privacy is guaranteed by the 1st amendment. If there can be debate about 1st amendment interpretation, you're saying 2nd amendment debate is wrong? There's no slippery slope, there's only ketostix that has never heard about judicial review.

Times change, and with changing times, interpretation of the law must change as well. Making semi-auto or automatic sub 50cal weapons available in the same way handguns are available is so absurd, I'm surprised you are taking that position

Sports cars are for going fast. Speed kills. Why does anyone need a car that can go over 80 mph. Put speed governors on all cars, taxes sports cars, make buyers take special driving classes, etc! Same thing.

Sports cars aren't weapons. An accident is different from a willful discharge of an automatic gun.

A handgun is just as effective at "injuring a lot of people" as an "assualt" rifle. Ban it too  !

I won't even acknowledge this, re-read and realize how stupid it sounds.

I own a handgun that i keep in the house, but i do think more regulation is needed.

Here in florida its way too easy to get guns, i know plenty of people who were convicted of violent crimes in the past and served major jail time and somehow are able to have a stockpile of weapons at their house...you can buy weapons at a flea market for fvcks sake.

I'm all for people owning guns for self-defense, but there needs to be a registration system for all guns and bullets sold, so that if a gun is used in a crime it can be traced back to somebody.

Plus a psychological evaluation with a state-approved psychologist for all first-time buyers wouldn't hurt either.

I'm kind of disappointed in you fuzz, with all the times you point out how messed up N. American women are. Now granted the U.S. still has some 2nd amendment gun rights and the women are fvcked up but it's not really about guns. The liberals started really pushing gun control laws around 1968 which coincides with time women started becoming more feminist. Can't you see the big picture gun control is a part of a mentality? If they can take away consitution rights what can't they take away.

The argument that some people are dangerous with guns is the very reason people need gun rights. The fact the gov feels it needs guns is reason why citizens need the right too. The fact we have a constitution that has brought unprecedent freedom for 200 years is the reason it needs to be protected.

You know what's funny and ironic? Obama supporters are buying guns too with the belief he'll try to ban them. Gun control is bringing more guns and more laws that will be ultimately enforced by a gun.

Well I believe we had something like that prior to 1986 and the government agency enforcing it was so abusive that the Firearm Owners Protection Act was passed in '86. There's more gun regulations than people think already, besides drugs are regulated but criminals still buy and sell them. I'm no gun control topic expert but I think people are suppose to turn in a form before selling someone a gun already. Selling a gun at a show or flea market without doing the paperwork can get you in trouble with the fed agents that are usually around watching. That's my understanding, but hey 2 "criminals" can sell drugs in an alley too.

i've got to comment on this, to elaborate. 50000 volts sounds like alot, but there are people who are killed by average house appliances which are no more than 110 volts.

Why you ask?

It's not the voltage that matters in a weapon sense, it's the amperes or current. (A)

once you factor in the electrical resistance of the human body (about 500 ohms for shooting tazer, anywhere from 1000 to 100000 for stungun) the amount of electricity reaching a person is actually quite small.

the actual wattage reaching a person from a 50000 volt 3mA tazer is only 150 watts. and that's at best circumstances, and at 3 mA, it might incapacitate a smaller person, but a bigger guy with some decent pain resistance is going to bite through it.

there are alot of factors to consider when seeing if a tazer will knock a guy out, what resistance is his skin? is he wearing inductive clothing? does he have a weak nervous system?

This is why there are instances when it kills people, and there are instances of people just brushing a stungun off like a bee.

Also, most tazers are only 1 or 2 mA, in that case, it's somewhere from 50 to 100 watts that are being delivered.

They have their uses, but for home defence, i'd much rather have a gun.

Personally *I* like large birdshot for this use. It's highly lethal and won't over-penetrate. Sounds like maybe she just missed any immediately vital parts, but killing a person is not like in the movies, they don't always just drop like a sack of potatoes. It takes time to die from a non-CNS hit.
