Allright, first of all. Someone brought up the point that maybe the reason you are asking is more to see if it is worth the time and effort for the 'transformation'... regardless of how long it takes I must answer a resounding YES!! it is worth all the time and effort, and some.

Now, to answer your question. I was a complete and utter AFC for 19 years of my life. Then, a combination of getting dumped by the ugliest girl that I never should have dated, and losing a chance with the hottest girl I might have ever had a shot with, I realised that the time had come for a change, I had to get the area of women handled no MATTER what the cost!

About a month later, I found this site... one of the few that actually offered information for free. I read for a month straight... every article, every tip, every post in the bible.

Then was my first shot at the bootcamp. It took me 3 weeks to get out 25 hellos to strangers. To get an idea... started the second week, and it was too much... BUT MAN I felt alot more confident.

After about 3 months or so, I figured I was ready... it was New Years Eve, and I was gonna be damned if I wasn't gonna approach a few women, to break in what I dubbed for myself 'The year of the pimp.' That night I got shot down 4 times, and got 3 nuimbers... better then I had done in the past 2 YEARS combined.

Things went up and down, some days I felt like I couldn`t spit game if my life depended on it, and other days I would get up to 7 numbers in a night. I would start dating a girl or two, then quickly become attached, and eventually break up... followed by about 2-3 days recovery into the game and EACH time I came out MUCH stronger and more confident then before...

I've changed my job, I've changed my attitudes about life, I am a much better person because of this site. That is why (in my own non-professional opinion) I am one of the few REAL djs that still visiits the site regularily... I truly enjoy helping those that are in the same shoes that I once was in...

I've got news for you, it will take as long as it takes. More importantly, it won't happen until you let go of arbitrary timetables and expectations. If you want to change, it won't be a magical transformation. It will be hard work, and for the most part you won't notice the gradual change. This is because to notice the change, you'll need to hold onto the image of the AFC that you are in order to gauge your progress. Don't make this mistake. Let go of who you are, and embrace who you want to be.
Thank you for that condescending remark... just to inform you, Sting... I am not trying to gauge the "opportunity cost" here. What I am simply asking is how long it took people, I AM committed to this transformation, but as the BootCamp is progressing I'm seeing much improvements but I ain't anywhere near the DJ I had in mind. Talking to some notable bootcamp vets I heard from them they weren't DJ's yet either. The reason I ask this question is not to see whether its worth the time... its to have a realistic estimate of how long it would take me to accomplish these goals. I have a feeling that my 1st bootcamp won't be my last one.

But either way though, I will continue. And the general consensus here seems roughly a year for a good transformation. I'm sure I'll still be learning after my first year, but you know, I just don't want to have this stupid belief of 8 weeks is all it takes and then to wake up to a sobering reality. 5 weeks from now (when it's done), I will be A LOT better than now, but not where I wan't to be yet.

Thanks for everyone's comments so far!

The truth hurts, doesn't it?

You're quite welcome. It's clear to me that you have a great deal more to learn. Good luck.

You'll do well. You have a great attitude about it.

I think being a succesful person all-around (what this site is about) is a life-long task. I don't think there's a time where you can say "I've done EVERYTHING. Now I can just sit here." There is always a challenge to be found somewhere. That's the beauty of life when you have a "DJ" attitude.

So don't think of it in terms of having a 'finishing' date. Just set out to challenge yourslef and become a better man, constantly and consistently.

But yes, you generally make very rapid progress for a year or two, then you work on smaller more specific things.

I can tell you this, its going to take me alot longer than 8 weeks to change. Not because i am unmotivated, but because my goal is not to meet woman(totally), it is to change my life and live it MY way. After just coming out of a 10 year LTR i'm in no hurry to get with another chick. I know that a woman wont make me happy, only i can truly make me happy. I like Pooks posts, he basically says make yourself happy with who you are, then consider letting the right female into your world.

Three and a half years. But in my opinion... being a Don Juan is about the journey, not the destination.
