Woah I was hoping for some more in depth answers than this. Come on guys
Alkali there are cliques, but there is also a chain of popularity. A chain of cliques perhaps? Yes, I think so. I hope the rest of this HELPS SOMEONE ELSE.
You point nerds and jocks. By nature jocks are cooler than nerds. Popularity is only perception. One that doesn't exist outside of high school. As DJs we shouldn't 'try' to be popular. Although it should come naturally. Keep that in mind when you read the rest of this.
Here are some observations I've made that might be enlightening. The very bottom kind of seems like the feral people. Generally poor people that think its cool to smoke and do heavy drugs. Always riding bikes, until they get cars, then they get caught drink driving and sh!t. Huge rebels. Used to be cool, went too far off the rails.
Then you have the nerds. Sometimes try to be cool. They don't socialise much or play any sport. They actually do play dungeons and dragons. Some of them anyway.
Then comes the normal people. They don't fall into any stereotype. Have their own friendship grounds. Might occasionally go to parties. Don't break out of their groups very much.
Then the jocks. Anyone who is good at sport seems like they get an automatic ticket to popularity. I hang around with all these people. I guess that gives me some sort of coolness because I know the right people, and I'm friends with the right people. However I suck at sport lol. Strange how it worked out. I would make a better nerd. Think is my 'jock' group doesn't go to parties or stuff, well hardly any of us.
The cool guys. Why are the cool? I'm not sure. Lots are good at sport. All of them really just don't give a fvck. They go out and party. Hang with the hot chicks. Lots have surprisingly low standards though. Surprisingly they have a lot more in common the people right at the bottom than anyone else. That’s the biggest mystery to me. What separates this fine line?
If you fall into any of the stereotyped don't worry, it's just my perceptions and observations. Someone else’s could be completely different. The thing is most people don't fall into sterotyped where I live. A small city in Australia. We don't use the words geeks or jocks. So it is probably a bit different for you. Think is most people are just people.
The thing is I know this guy. He’s a good kind of guy. He is a massive ladies man. If you ask him about his secrets he sounds kind of afc. Most people he knows like him and he has lots of friends. Yet he admits that IM cooler than him. Hang on a minute… He scores more chicks then I ever have, goes to parties and gets out more… yet I’m cooler? How does that work? Is it the people I hang out with? Because although he is well known and maybe liked its with people who are lower on the ladder… That’s why people’s perceptions are stupid.
Can someone help me discuss and explain this phenomenon? Do you agree? Disagree? Have your own story? If you read it all you might as well reply
PS: zubs if you think this is all about tail you got some work to do man
