Lesson one: Avoid Sosuave at all costs. I have been writing a paper all day and I should be done by now.
Have you ever heard of something called SQ3R? Scan, Question, Read, Recite, Review.
I believe the way the method goes is first you scan the chapter, read all the captions and what not. That is supposed to help with retaining things. Then while you read the chapter write questions for each paragraph that the specific paragraph answers. Next after your finished reading, recite the main points (doesn't have to be out loud). Then a few days later review by reading over and answering your questions in the margins.
