Re: Oh, C'mon...

i wouldn't even want to look in my gf's phone. i know she's popular and has a zillion male and female friends and if i started reading msgs i'd just get jealous so i save myself the trouble.

All i know is that most of her txt msgs are to me and she always answers promptly and she does me on a regular basis and that's good enough for me.

Repeat that: as a general rule.

And if you're one of those exceptions don't bother posting because either it's an egotistical stance ("well I don't and (unstated) so I'm better than you...) or a meaningless exception to the general rule.
Perhaps it seems like an egotistical stance, but yes, I probably am happy to be able to say that I resisted the temptation to snoop - As are all of you, apparently, considering the fact that you're all taking this "moral" position by arguing this point in the first place.

And you should be proud of yourselves -

Respecting someone else's boundaries is something that, apparently, not everyone is able to do. But it doesn't mean that everyone is this way.

What a sad world it truly is if, as TesuqueRed says, it is unrealistic to expect that other people will respect our privacy. Why is this the rule and not the exception?

Maybe because not many of us are able to respect and love others as we do ourselves; i.e., most of us are simply too selfish.

:( Again, don't tempt them and they won't snoop. (sigh)

Just like you wouldn't leave $1,000 laying on the seat of your car with the door unlocked...

Some would steal the money, others wouldn't... ;)

Those who steal also have no respect for the boundaries of others.

Channel your excited feelings into positive thoughts and behaviors. You will attract women by being enthusiastic, radiating energy, and becoming someone who is fun to be around.

Here's an idea:

Use a password.

Here are some guidelines:

- Make it nonsensical, so no one can guess it.

- At least ten characters long. If you can remember longer passwords, then do.

- This builds on the first guideline, but make sure it can't be found in an English dictionary. Ideally it can't be found in any other dictionary either, but not a big deal since there are too many different languages.

- No middle names, birthdays, SSNs, favorite color, or anything else associated with you.

- Like your ATM PIN number, remember it. Don't write it down. Oh yeah and don't use your pin number. If you MUST write it down, put the piece of paper into your safe deposit box, and don't label it. Just write the password.

Ideally you'd also:

- Use punctuation in the password.

- Mix case, so some letters are uppercase and others are lowercase.

- Put some numbers into the password.

- Keep your phone with you at ALL times. In my room when I sleep I charge it on a table near my bed. When I shower I keep it on the bathroom counter (risky but it's the best you can do). Basically, don't leave it someplace when in public, at someone else's place, or when someone's at your place and they don't live there.

- If your Phone has Bluetooth or other wireless capability, turn it off and turn it on only as needed.

Other ideas:

- Use a formula to mess up the password more. The Cryptoquip puzzle in some newspapers (or at least in my local paper) is a very simple example of this.

- Don't use the same password for your phone as what you have for anything else (E-mail, Windows Login, AIM, Sosuave, etc.)

My $.02,

Ben

Y'know it's obvious that it's easier to steal $1,000 bucks laying on the seat of an unlocked car than it is to earn that $1,000 bucks. Although I do not believe that this site is condoning this sort of "take the easy way out" mentality when it comes to picking up chicks.
