I ask this because as I type this, I am sobering up from a bar-hop. God damn bartenders for spiking my drinks...consequence of ttipping too well. :p

I honestly don't connect with this environment. I wonder if it's just a result of being away from it for so long. I used to be so comforrtable here.

I still see the" get laid" potential of this environment, but it seems terribly cheesy. Guys are just total douchebags trying to impress the ladies, and the girls...they eat it up. Honestly...I'm almost ashamed to see how easy it is. It is no wonder people are f'd by 25.

I still don't know how I feel about it. I feel like now that I'm older I want to represent REAL value in the" hunt" but there are so many poseurs just letting their "game" hang out, knowing they are turds in real life. I just don't feel like I can posture to that degree. No offense...but I can't get my head around the over-marketing most guys run to land tail. And 95% of them are going home alone. But the 5% who do...eh, I feel like I should be able to run game with the best of them. But it isn't me.

Do you f**ks still run the clubs and bars at your age?

Im hitting up the bars alot now and daygaming with my wings.. but you take a more cerebral approach, instead of looking like a starving tiger eyeing up the b1tches-- I'm just heading there for fun and to blow off steam after a week of work.. that attitude actually has attracted girls which I basically just fclose and chuck to the side.. bars are for fun and the game just comes with it:)

I can see that. In fact, that's the way I'd LIKE to approach it. But I don't have an active "wing", so I'm kind of solo-ing it. It beats sitting home playing Halo, but at the same time it's hard to break into groups of women.

A little "class" wouldn't hurt the scene either. It seems a lot harder to display "real value" in an environment like that.

I'm sure some of the top-Juans could just go into an environment like that and be "social butterfly"...having all the girls eating out of their hands. I'm not like that...at least not now. Alcohol used to get me there...now it just makes me tired. :p

God, drunk 18 and 19 year old girls that think they're all that are the funniest things at clubs. I feel a lot more "at home" at afterhours places w/o alcohol than at actual clubs.

I haven't been to an actual club in years (unless I was working). I don't mind going to afterhours places if I like the DJ that's playing... but that's the only reason I go to clubs... for the music. I'm happily hooked up so I have no interest on picking anything up.

Its interesting to watch the social interactions that take place in clubs, especially when you have a little bit of background knowledge about sexual social interaction and trends from a place like this!

I absolutely hate going to clubs.
Which is a pity because I wouldn't mind a ONS now and then.

But is it even possible to game women in a place that you absolutely hate?

Just because a woman listens to you and acts interested in what you say doesn't mean she really is. She might just be acting polite, while silently wishing that the date would hurry up and end, or that you would go away... and never come back.

After having worked at nightclubs for 5+ years, I find it very tiresome to go back into one. I'll go to one when it's with a social group of friends and we're all there just to have a good time.

But I've become the guy who would rather sit down at a bar and be able to order a drink right away. I love having conversations with the bartender(s) and the nearby patrons.

I'm just not one for the loud music and the 30 minute wait just for one beer. I knew something was wrong when I'd order two beers at a time just to avoid the wait. Sorry, but I'd rather use my time wisely and enjoy a nice game, much like I did last night. I hit up a bar two blocks away from my house, there's a crowd there that gathers to enjoy good basketball games. Celtics/Bulls was on and what a good time to be had by all. The atmosphere was tense but because of the basketball game and not "The Game". I like it more, it feels a lot more relaxed.

Whenever I walk into a nightclub it almost feels like I'm stepping into another world, a caged safari if you will.

I just think it's far easier for me to enjoy the social aspects at a social sports bar where people are more open to conversation and/or being approached.

So, I avoid the nightclubs mostly, and the bars, well, I never expect anything from there other than a good time... which is probably why I'm having more success than ever at them.

My peak bar years were probably my mid 20s. When you hit 21 you think "Hey, I can go to bars now". And then maybe you really get into in your mid 20s. Then the novelty wears off, and it gets tiresome. Or at least it did for me. Some people stay in that environment their whole lives. I envy them in some ways. I just don't like alcohol that much and there was always an element of the bar scene that screamed "FAKE!" to me.

Alcohol used to get me there...now it just makes me tired.
Uh oh, that sounds like you're getting old. That's pretty much the same effect it has on me. At some point I realized that with alcohol there was a very small window of time where it made me feel good, euphoric. Maybe two hours, tops. And the rest of the time it was just a hindrance, either it made me feel tired or just like crap in general.

Like I said, I kind of envy people who can still enjoy alcohol that much. I just can't get into it anymore. And a bunch of drunk people in one place? Bleh.

I remember years ago when in the clubs you would see older guy mixing it up with the younger crowd and to me it looked funny. Clubs have really never been my thing. A bar with enough room to breathe is okay.

For me: The older I get, the older going to the club gets.

A few months ago, I went to a club that was a mix of different ages and it was not bad. There was a guy in there in his mid forties, I guess, and was dressed in a Hawaiian shirt, and sandals. His hair was a long version of Ron Jeremy with same type of mustache. He looked just like Ron and my group made fun of him all night. He is the kind of guy that gives us mature guys that chester look in the club.

i've always hated them really, mainly because on the rare occasion i go to a club now, i get flashbacks to my afc days, where i would stand on the sidelines, or dancing next to women, who totally ignored me, week in week out. So...yeah...i've kind of retired from clubs now.

bars are cool though, as long as the music volumes low enough to chat with friends and bar staff!

Plus the really crowded ones where you have to plow through people just to move around..... its so uncomfortable even talking because you are constantly getting bumped into by the crowd..... I was just at one last night so this is fresh in my mind... Most of the girls there are attention *****s....

I still pull a lot of numbers from it though.. If you are actively gaming I think nightlife should be utilized.

Channel your excited feelings into positive thoughts and behaviors. You will attract women by being enthusiastic, radiating energy, and becoming someone who is fun to be around.

Haha same here. Give me two beers and a comfortable seat and I can pretty much fall asleep.

I'm with zekko in that i'm not really a big fan of alcohol. I drink socially and I've definitely had some great times drinking, but anymore getting drunk just isnt worth the cost and feeling like crap the next day.

And I have always hated clubs. I mean HATED clubs. Not my scene, I've tried to make it my scene, it just isnt. Bars I dont mind if it's more if a tavern/pub setting. I like to sit down with some friends and just make jokes and have a good time. You have to have like-minded company though. Some people are always scanning horizon for some action, they cant just chill.

As far as 'gaming' goes at bars, I dont really give a crap. If opportunity knocks I'll take it but I'm not out there to sarge.

Sounds like I'm not alone. :p

I've always preferred places that were a little more "hip"...places with a little more character. Places that are more "lounge" than "bar" or "club". It's generally less crowded/more conducive to conversation/mingling, plus if they have some couches where I can stretch out, so much the better. I hate sitting hunched over a bar or being shoulder-to-shoulder with hordes of pushing/shoving clowns.

Speaking of clowns...if you're on the dance-floor...DANCE. If you're not gonna dance, GET OFF THE DANCE FLOOR. I've never understood dudes who push their way through the dance floor and try to start conversations with girls who are getting their groove on, or just stand out there looking stoic. I can't dance for ****, but if I'm on the floor, I'll at least groove a little to look like I belong there.

My hometown isn't a big "club" place. I think there may be 2 or 3 decent "nightclubs" in town...the rest of the places around here are bars. There's dancing usually, but it's definitely more of a bar/party/get drunk vibe. Most of the "hot" areas consist of bars carved out of the basements of rowhomes, each one just like the next, and people packed in shoulder-to-shoulder. I feel awkward as hell starting a conversation with someone just because I had to bump into them to let someone else walk through.

I'd honestly rather just hang out with friends...but I'm getting lazy in my "game" as a result, and my friends honestly don't have many single female friends. So I'm trying to at least get out there and "see what happens", but I can't find a vibe with a lot of these places.

I dunno if it's like this everywhere, but around here...these places are also overrun by "group events"...bachelorette parties, birthday parties, etc...not easy to break into a crowd when crap like that is going on.

Guess I'll have to keep searching for better venues. :p Maybe once I get comfortable again I'll be able to make more moves.

so interesting to see a unanimous dislike on the bar scene...

I absolutely hated clubs and I thought it's an American thing I can't understand (I am a European) ..

Drunk girls, crowded bars, drunk AFCs, brawls, police, AW chicks, loud noise, plowing people, getting dissed by 20 IQ chicks,

the place practically turns you into an AFC - even if you aren't one.

There's no choice in a bar.

The field is far braoder than that.

Too many places at once
I *love* some bars and clubs. The reason is I'm into certain kinds of music that don't really get played anywhere else. But for the same reason they attract a different kind of crowd and more the type you'd see at an outdoor concert or rock show. It's organized around common interest.

Loud music, drinks, socializing, all that is fine. Dancing is great too, there is a difference between little circles of girls swaying around their handbags showing off, and people who are dancing like they're raving to music they actually enjoy. But mainstream clubs are full of people who were dragged there by their friends, or trying to live out some drug-fueled pseudo-celebrity fantasy they bought from the media. Which is a terrible clientele.

Stuff like this is eminently danceable... these days I'd rather promote a club night I'd actually like or play music, than be another sheep.

I can really relate to that, that's how I felt when I was at the bars alot in south florida. Just not my scene, lots of posturing and doucheness, with not the best ratio of girls to guys.

Returning to my college town has been a whole different experience though, I get told I look young for my age so maybe that's why it was easy to blend back in. People are usually surprised when I tell them how old I am. With that said, definitely reinforces the fact that I like younger women much better than women my age.

So I don't run the bars, but I have a good local spot I like to go to here. I would try to just loosen up and have fun with your friends, harder to do in the big city bar/club environment sometimes..

I stick to the same handfull of lounge bars these days where I go just to hangout and appreciate a well made ****tail...and open the occasional two set.

Funny, today I finally found a PUA "lair" in my hometown so I was pretty excited about that but on closer inspection it seems to mostly be a bunch of guys in their early twenties who go out and sarge nightclubs. That's great for them and there might be some value in it for me, but I'd really like to find a reliable, motivated 30-something wingman who can work the sh!t out of a lounge bar....it's just so hard to find a good man these days!

I never had to go to a club to hook up with women, so going there seemed like a waste of time. Too much distraction, other options for the women, and too loud and busy to talk.

Seems like it always limited my game rather than helped.

If you have good social skills, you'll get WAY better results in small, intimate venues where you can really "work the room" and build value.

If you're in a room with 15 people, most everyone will be receptive to talking to each other. If you're in a room with 150 people, everyone will tend to stay with the people they know and are inclined to view outsiders as less similar than they.

Mystery-style game is very verbal and requires a specific pacing--as such, it's really meant for smaller, noiseless venues. Stick to small rooms--there's always at least a couple of HBs around, and they'll be more open to meeting you.

Go to clubs if that's what you enjoy, but go to HAVE FUN. Picking up should be secondary. And, if you can't dance, don't expect to be pulling girls from the dance floor.

This.

Create self-fulfilling prophecies. Always assume the positive. Assume she likes you. Assume she wants to talk to you. Assume she wants to go out with you. When you think positive, positive things happen.
