How do I tell someone I'm dating that I'm not comfortable going to her neighborhood?

I heard Philly,PA is like Vietnam right now... Guys in Philly are Reckless right now

If I were you I wouldn't be THAT worried. Maybe carry a weapon in your car if you can. And keep it moving. I used to live in inner-city Chicago. I used to live near Humbolt Park, a predominately Puerto Rican neighborhood.

The general consensus in my neighborhood was that you don't mess with white people passing through unless they were clucks(drug customers). Think about it, if the locals were to start violence with innocent white bystanders they would just get unwanted attention from the police. Police would start cracking heads

Most of the violence in American inner-cities, is unfortunately black on black violence or Latino on Latino violence. Very rarely do the locals attack innocent bystanders on purpose for fear of unwanted attention from the police department.

Actually, statistically speaking its probably no worse than any other major city.

Having said that, it still sucks having been conditioned to be on guard every time you see a black male from the ages of 17-25.

My dad used to work in the south bronx. He used to carry a cane (needed it for walking) that was heavy enough to cause damage if need be. He also had on him a false bankroll of 20 singles and a 20 on the outside. Throw it in one direction and run in the other.

Oh and I do carry a pocket knife, but if someone was coming after me, last thing i would want is to have my hands in my pockets fumbling opening a knife.

That being said, i'm not pretty sharp on this stuff anymore, orlando doesn't have the ghettos like you find up north. And if you believe the papers, crime is down to 1970s levels.
