This thread p*sses me off. I dislike these robots who need confirmation for everything they do in life, pretty sad

I agree entirely with your post.

I sometimes wonder maybe the forum should be closed down & simply have the DJ Bible... But that would not be fair to those who have actual difficult situation & need assistance

It's good that you dislike robots that need conformation for eveything they do in life. If I made a thread asking which side to get out of bed in the morning that would be pretty sad as well.

Sometimes I think this forum creates robots not DJ's.

Makes sense, I'll keep that in mind.

Also thanks to everyone that posted in this thread. Most of this is common sense if you've interacted with people long enough but overthinking something can run you into some confusion.

Some girl I was talking to the other day said "You know, I LOVE your eyes!"

I backed away slightly and said "Hey hey hey, NOT for sale!"

She laughed pretty hard, and i followed up by saying "anyway, thank you" and how lots of people comment on my eyes etc.

What people are missing here is that a reply doesn't have to be a single statement.

If you notice, I "deflected" the compliment with a funny remark, then followed up by sincerely accepting it, then being a little ****y as well.

3 stages. You can't have a single reply which acheives all the things you get from a 3 stage reply.

just be the dominant male my friend, its in your body language, whatever else you say or want to say, means nothing, hell if she compliments you fvck it, say something AFC is you want, you gives a fvck, as long as you dont lose your dominant stature, you are fine, but if you lose it, you are up a creek with no paddle, aint that how it goes.

Is it just me, or is every post you make basically saying "Be the dominant male"?

There is more to it than that. Try offering some more varied advice :)

You just gotta maintain congruency with C&F.

Her: YOu have amazing eyes!
You: Yeah, props to my parents. Great genes. Keep up the good work.

Her: You're so funny!
You: Yeah, but the funniness is just part of the overall package of greatness you get with me.

LOL....that was pretty good. It seems to boil down to showing that you value yourself and can convey it in a way that makes her laugh. I have a feeling that the previous statement encompasses a large part of dealing with women effectively and has been reiterated many times over.

Her: wow you smell great, you have a great smile, i want to have your children, etc...
Response: :) I know, thanks

That's my favorite response to your average everyday comments. Just keep it simple.

If it's a compliment that you can work off of though, then you might wanna do a little improvising of course...

Her: That's a nice shirt/pair of pants/etc., where did you get it?
Response: Why, do you like to dress up in the opposite sex's clothes when nobody's around too? :)

For all those people who are naysaying this post, I am forced to disagree. I went through most of my life not knowing how to accept a compliment. They made me extremely uncomfortable. It took this site to give me the self confidence to be able to deal with them and understand that it's okay to receive compliments. In fact, in his book, Style mentions that he spent a very long time trying to figure out exactly what the best response. I've paraphrased his thoughts below.

Often, the best response is "thank you." This is because it shows the most self confidence. If you say a C/F answer, you risk coming off as too ****y and if you deflect it, you risk coming off as insecure. Compliments aren't really the same animal as other comments so when you give it the C/F it doesn't always come off as "cute."

Of course there are exceptions and I think SynapsyS gave some good examples of that.

I'm a female and my advice to you is to just smile and bow your head, don't comment. Show your feelings but also show humility. Otherwise, you'll come off as arrogant and annoying.

For instance, I told one guy "I love the way you smile" and the dude was like "I know right" so I said "I take that back" lol.

I don't know about you, but my homies and I are tight. If I was stranded and needed a ride, one or them would be there to pick me up, and I would do the same. As for the girl... heh... diff story

This guy is right.

And again :)

You have to really use a bit of intuition and instinct. Your best bet is to try responding in different ways. The response you get will depend on;

- The type of person you are
- The type of person SHE is
- The situation
- The compliment.

I can USUALLY get away with a BIT of C/F in my responses, because people know i don't take ANYTHING seriously, so joking around with compliments suits me. Obviously, as I already said, you still have to accept the compliment sincerely, but you can still throw in as much C/F as YOU THINK YOU CAN GET AWAY WITH.

The girl is important too. If she's a shy type, and she's genuinely complimenting you, being a tab arrogant will SERIOUSLY back fire on you. If she's like the girls I enjoy dating, then they're always playing around, and most compliments are half jokes anyway.

So, if you're not sure, just say thanks and move on. But, if you know yourself, and the girl, pretty well, then judge it, and apply ONLY AS MUCH C/F AS YOU THINK YOU CAN GET AWAY WITH.

As with everything though, trial and error will also work a lot. Nothing like a failure to beat some sense into you :)

Yeah I would do a lot for my mates but I was trying to get a point across, perhaps I should have said it differently, how bout I say if they werent stranded and were just being lazy pricks.

I get complimented on my eyes pretty much all the time. I used to get embarassed and not know what to say. One day, out of nowhere, I came up with the response "Thanks, they're Gucci." Everyone seems to love that one.

Just thought I'd throw that out there.
