Some show on MTV called 8th and Ocean, about models. Watched an episode, this dude named Vinci had the body I've always wanted.

Click the link and flip through the pictures, the guy has an amazing body, good muscle definition and abs. How would I go about getting that type of body shape and maintaining it? I'm guessing he doesn't lift weights, just has low body fat levels and amazing genetics....what do you guys think? Can this type of body be built in the gym?

Follow the guide to cutting up to a 'T' like... absolutely.

It'll strip off fat, and strip off muscle, and end up with you lookin pretty much like that.

lol wtf! I look like that right now and am trying to bulk up because I'm too thin. Funny how goals change so much between people.

Heh, can you please answer my question? :p

Do I need to get to like 6-7% body fat and then hit the gym for high reps?
how do I get those abs, where they're rectangles and all symmetrical. Crunches, medball? Squats, how do I get them like that.

Everyone's different. At 12%, my gut sticks out, whereas, at the same percentage, most folks' abs start to be noticeable.

When I was around 8%, my body looked pretty much like his, but most people don't even need to get that low.

6-7%? It's almost impossible to stay at such a low bodyfat for prolonged times.

6-7% body fat? whats your overall weight and height?
i am 5'11 ,165 with 8-9% body fat and i ripped...well, by normal peoples terms..bodybuilders would consider ripped 3-4% body fat.

i answered your question before.

For the rest of it, you can't "make your abs look like that." THey'll look like they will no matter what, because muscle SHAPE is genetic, where as being able to see the muscle is a function of bodyfat.

I think anyone who was dedicated could realistically get in shape like Vinci in a matter of 3 or 4 months. He's not a big guy. He's only 6' which is short by male modeling standards, has a waist measurement of 31'', a 40 inch chest, and 15 inch neck. I'd say he probably weighs between 170-180, if that. Anyone could get in that kind of shape.

been there, done that http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v632/Mind_Over_Matter/slimshredded.jpg .

If you just want to look slim like that and don't want to get big, just do a 5day split routine with about 20-25 sets per workout and take in a moderate of protein while cutting carbs off after 6pm.

the amount of energy you expand in your workouts will help you get cut, and while you wont gain any real size, your muscle will get defined enough to put his to shame.

but if you want to get big, start reading up on HIT / DC methods. For the most of my workout progress I was a HIT bodybuilder, but for the last several months I've gone on DC training and would highly recommend it if you want to get big.

At this point you probably have a woman (or multiple women) chasing you around, calling you all the time, wanting to be with you. So let's talk about how to KEEP a woman interested in you once you have her. This is BIG! There is nothing worse than getting dumped by a woman that you really, really like.

that was pretty much my measurement when my body looked like that.

6'2, 42 inch chest, 30 inch waist, 15.5 inch neck and about 185-190 at 8% bodyfat.

to get to that level from 6'2 230 (26-30% bodyfat), it about the same amount of time (3-4mo)

so you did a 5 day split to look like that in the picture? just curious. that's alot of working out- i used to be into that also, i kinda miss it actually but i spent too much time in the gym IMO.Did you find that when you were getting cut up, you got weaker and more tired all the time? nothing a good day of carbing up can't fix!!

nah man, I would always have a big carb breakfast then go out 2 hrs later. as long as i ate consistently throught the day i always felt alert and good to go.

the only times i'd get tired would be on nights where i did muay thai sparring like 8 hrs after my workout.

as for the 5 day split, when i started out with it, i used 20 sets/workout to cut down, then once i was at 8-9% bf i lowered the amount of sets and focused more on HIT principles like failure training, forced reps, etc.

so it was:

cutting:
4-5 exercises per workout session, 4 sets / exercise, 5 days a week, each muscle group trained on a seperate day, and all compounds included.

when i actually started caring about size, i went down to:

4 exercises per session, 2 sets per exercise, both to failure with forced reps, still 5 days a week.

I found when i cut that way, lots of sets, lots of reps, 5 days a week in the gym, moderate protein, mid carb, low fat, cardio.... I'd lose a lot of strength, but yes, the fat melts off.

That's what i meant in my first post... you end up melting off the fat, but you'll end up like any other buck 75 guy out there that's got a set of abs and a bicep vein.

I am a hard gainer, so from my end of the spectrum, it was difficult as hell to get ripped and big at the same time. There was no cutting at all. I gained and stayed ripped. It took 2 years to put on 20 lbs, but it was all upper-body muscle. The thing that I should've done to speed it up was work out my legs. Since I lost all 20 lbs, I've had to start over.

I gained 10 lbs in the first month drinking 20 grams protein powder in the morning and just after workouts. I also supplemented with 600 calories of weight gainer in the mornings with my protein powder. This was all in addition to eating 4-5 times per day.

I only work out 3-4 days per week, depending on how busy I am. I am now at 150, and working back to where I was a couple years ago: 160. I wouldn't advise lifting 5 days per week. My splits looked like this:
Day 1: Chest, Tri's
Day 2: Legs
Day 3: Rest
Day 4: Shoulders
Day 5: Rest or Back and Biceps
Day 6: Rest if I did back and Biceps on 5, or do back and bi's
Day 7: rest
In between sets two or three times per week I would do ab stuff for the entire workout. This saved me a lot of time, and kept my heartrate up. I went from 90 bpm heart rate to 65 in just 1 month doing this.
This got me ripped, and I never felt overworked. I am also running 1 mile to warm up, and I feel like that's been instrumental in keeping my abs highly visible. What I did was pick a hardcore bodybuilder routine out of a magazine that looked appealing, then experimented and tailored it to my own problem spots and weak areas. I then added my own exercises.

Hope this helps

Keep in mind that everyone has to start at that 175lbs level (or lower for shorter guys) at some point. There's no point in going on a bulking oriented diet when you have a gut. I know when I first started out at 230 with a beer belly, my goal wasn't to deadlift 500+, i just wanted to be slim and have a 6 pack. Once I achieved that goal, I said to myself "great, now I want to be big".

At that point I simply lowered the number of sets down to 8-10, and incorrporated HIT training methods while increasing my protein intake and that started me off. Years later, I still have a 6 pack, and I have surpassed my original weight with lean muscle.

Mind Over Matter, how cleanly did you eat back in your early days with the 20 sets a day/ 5 days per week? I'm at around 170 right now with a bit of a beer gut and I've recently started working out again. And also, what kind of cardio did you do, if any?
