Alright, her last boyfriend who has recently broken up with her was everything she could ever want. He was a bad boy, with piercings and tattoos. Although he wasn't all that good looking, but he was what she wanted... I think. This guy wrote her songs.. he played guitar and he freakin wrote songs for her. How lame is that? There's no way I can compete with that. Although I do write poetry... which is kinda unmanly/gay, it still doesn't compare to writing songs for her. Plus, she's liked this guy for quite a while now... she's liked him since she was a freshman in HS, and now she's a freshman in college. He was a jerk or somethign and broke up with her. They only dated for 2 months... and yeah, I'd really like to get with her. Although I doubt she'd use me as a rebound or anything like that, as she has strong morals and would never do that. And I'm pretty sure she still likes him, but it's gonna take her a while to get over him. So how do I compete? How do I get her to get over him? I asked her to a concert on Sunday, and told her to call me back this week... but I doubt she's gonna go... she's heading back down to San Diego, heading home for this holiday weekend... sigh. So yeah.. and I already bought the tickets too, damnit. Anyways, how can I compete with this bad boy? I do have confidence, and I'm very funny at times... she always tells me I'm so funny... but I'm not quite as bad as she wants I don't think. So yeah.. what should I do?

Simple as asking her to lunch one time. If that doesnt work next her. There is always more fish in the pond.

She thinks you are funny?
DUDE, go with that!

Just make her laugh! You are on the right track!
Be very witty at the start of the conversation and towards the end. After you've done this a few times... When you call, a smile will light up on her face, and she'll say hello with that smile... Create as many inside jokes as you possible can! I usually use multiple nick names, but don't over use them. You can always bring them together..

If you aren’t in the "funny zone" then don't call her or get off the phone.

Do not bring up the ex.
If she does let her finish the sentence and then... Change the subject.

Still bro, present her with a challenge...
Don't let her know how much you like her...
Regardless if you pull her or not! Another friend!
And more experience!

Look through the phone of a girl your with and you probably find it full of messages from guys tryin to get with her. Plenty of these guys are probably funnier, smarter, cooler, better looking and richer than you.

Point being?

It doesnt matter because YOUR the one with her.

Forget her ex boyfriend, you dont have to compete with him because hes not around anymore.

Don't worry about what SHE WANTS. Doesn't matter. This is about what YOU want.

Dude, don't compare yourself to her exes. It serves no purpose seduction-wise. It's not what those guys DID that mattered, it's how they made her feel. You don't need to write a song about a girl to make her feel wanted.

But chances are, she dumped this AFC because he was in her world TOO MUCH. Writing songs about her, supplicating, trying to impress her and WIN HER OVER. Right now it sounds like you are seeking out ways to win her over too. Don't do that. Just dominate her frame and don't qualify yourself. Check out the DJBible ( http://www.jbspencer.com/djb/ )here and www.bristollair.com for further reading.

Right now you're in the wrong frame of mind to seduce a girl.

You know what..as shocking as it may sound..your task now is not to compete with him, but take her out of her reality..that means take her out of being hurt over the break up with him.

The bad boy who writes songs for her? Sounds like she's a typical female. She likes guys who seem in control and in charge but also seem to have a hidden sensitive side.

Poetry works, but it has to be echoed in your life. Live what you write about and live passionately. Don't be someone you're not, but be confident, funny, and remove her from her old ways of doing things. Replace her pain with happiness and mix that WITH a light, unexpected hint of 'real emotion' that she seems to want.

You'll need to do that because girls love to get into that whole "I can't be with him, but I'm spiritually tied to him" thing about bad boy musicians, writers and artists and if he ever wants her back, you'll be hurting.

You need to basically AMOG him in her mind. So hint that you can be deeper than him, but never do it ABOUT HER or she'll freak out.

Nothing a little training in MMA can't solve. I suggest hitting the gym and upping your protein.

Atleast you have excellent self-insight! :D

Don't always be the one putting yourself out for her. Don't always be the one putting all the effort and work into the relationship. Let her, and expect her, to treat you as well as you treat her, and to improve the quality of your life.

The majority of your initial post was all about how you thought you measured up to this other guy, and I'll bet you feel she's going to see it the same way.
Wrong O bucko.
As Scorched pointed out, you mentioned that she thinks your funny....funny will get you far. Just don't make it strained.
