So it is a soccer member's team birthday from one of the oppositions team and I said "happy birthday" which the bully then said "happy birthday have a great day" on top of my comment.

To my surprise, the person who has the birthday rudely ignored liking and commenting on my post, skipped mine and liked others.

Unfortunately, the person with the birthday and the bully are friends.

The person's birthday is 42 years old and bully is 38 years old (I'm 10 years younger than him).

The bully has:

  • The bully is in charge of the fee's and said to one of the organisers at the party lying to him to say "I'm not allowed free drinks because I don't pay fee's" even though the bully knows I pay fee's (all the member's of pay fee's was allowed free drinks).
  • He verbally insulted me in front of everyone when he found out I got a interview for a programmer job. He was out of control and unfortunately he can only do in certain parameters.
  • He took the mickey out of me coming back from the van saying "I look in the mirror trying to look like a barbie girl".
  • He tried to physically hit me with a football.

I can't believe some people try to desperately control things, influence and control others on how they see me.

I create this post because unfortunately he knows some beautiful women how I would like to get to know at these events we both go to. he may also try to influence them..

So how can I keep the power from him? He'll continue try to put me down, try to shun me out and influence on how other's see me behind my back.

If you have say 2-4 friends around you he won't have any power. Maybe you're always by yourself, start attracting friends that are supportive and will fight for you, then you earn respect naturally from there.

The next time he tries to disrespect you, you could pull him to the side a "tell him" that's the last time he will disrespect you and ask If he understands. If you're feeling very disrespected and cant get him off to the side you could say it to his face in front of others. You're just gonna have to be able to back it up and be ready for possible confrontation.

That's really the only way to stop it immediately unless you're slick enough to cut him down with underhanded comments until he gets the message.

I have a really alpha friend that will always test a new person to the group. There have been a few fights but once it's over they shake hands and they become buddies.

Thanks for the replies guys. I really appreciate the good comments and advice.

Yeah having friends who I can rely on will diminish his power over me.

I've caught him lying a few times and I can make him squirm in front of others. He will lose his dignity if he's been caught lying to others.

He's not successful in life, he's so afraid if I become a success.

When I start freelance programming he'll become the beta male. This prat will definitely not like being second best to me.
