Unlike chess, however...

Don't take 10 minutes to make a move! :)

Although I see where you're coming from, I disagree with it. Being a chess player myself(PM me if any of you are as well), I know that it involves analyzation of a fixed position. Dating / Life, however...is NOT a fixed position. It's dynamic and ever-changing. If you sit there and analyze a move(in life) before making a decision, life and the situation that was originally presented will have left you in the dust.

I believe the best idea is to focus on playing the game, not winning the game. Winning will inherently come from playing the game, yet if you focus on winning, you will lose.

I do agree though, that Visualization is paramount to success at ANYTHING in life.
I'm half there with you. Life differs from chess in that it's active and if you stall for too long it will pass you by. In that way life is far more complex. I do however think that some people should take more time to think their options and moves over. Good Field Marshalls and Generals understand this in military strategics although they have a support staff in their ear giving them options and updates. Concider your actions and try to make deadlines in which you act. Strategize and conquer if you will. Play the game to come out ahead with the intentions of good things and don't give up.

Sometimes instinct is the best action of course. You'll find yourself doing something then look back on that action and see how you instinctively set yourself up for the next couple of steps, but other times realize you don't have to rush into everything. I used the lincoln quote again "If someone gave me five hours to cut down a tree, I'd spend the first four sharpening my axe". Prepare and concider if you have the time. Only good things can come of this.
