Another pointless philosophical wank!

Comparing cold approach by us normal folks to a homeless beggar on the street? Us normal folks who have jobs, homes, money, ect...The big difference is that We have something...It's called "face". Bums and beggars have no face to lose when they are begging for change. Their social network consists of other bums and beggars who have no face to lose. On the other hand, even if you are a doctor, lawyer, college prof. whatever, whatever you do...the society remembers, even if you're still a part of it.

Between the years of 1987 to 2002 I spent my life as a homeless street bum, either drinking and sleeping in parks, or emergency accommodation centres, refuges, prisons, drug rehab centres and psychiatric hospitals, I spent all of my money on drink and ate at soup kitchens, today in 2006 I am educated and live in my cities most affluent area, but Gary Hoffman a man whom I met on the streets when I was 24 and he was 45 is still living the same life, what I can't understand is why he at nearly 60 hasn't been able to escape from this lifestyle yet when you talk to him he seems like a normal run of the mill guy, but he has always lived as a street drunk.

Help him out you ****ing prune! give him some guidance.

It's no joke how much change homeless people get. I've heard urban legends that in Atlanta beggers can score up to 80 grand a year taking advantage of people's pity.

I think the word "Disperation" comes to mind. Beggers beg because of disperation. Its not like they are given much of a choice.

Why choose to make an analogy using the homeless? The big difference here is "context". Bums aren't fearless, like others have said, they're desperate. Have you ever been in a desperate situation where you may starve if you don't beg people for money? Most people have the instinctual desire to survive over caring about what others think at the time. A lot of them are drug addicts who do not have the strength or courage to get themselves out of the mess they may or may not have caused, they're too far gone. Some of them are also mentally ill, as in diseased with no medical treatment so they survive by whatever means they can. This really isn't a good example.

What part of this whole thing are you two not understanding? Bums are desperate. Bums are begging because their sense of pride is bankrupt and they feel helpless without the charity of others. It doesn't take courage to beg when you feel that you can't lose face, because you can't get any lower than you are. If that wasn't the case, they would be finding a way to stop being bums and get themselves back on their own two feet, even if it means being a janitor.

A better example would be to compare the college professor to the Walmart employee. Neither is that far apart from the other. Both have jobs and support themselves reasonably, ect. Only difference, one job is more highly regarded than the other in terms of prestige. But still, in all other things, they would be equal when approaching girls. If the Walmart employee has more courage to approach, then Professor Frink (or whatever his name is) will lose the game no matter how high his IQ is or how many degrees he's got. He may be afraid of striking out and damaging his pride because naturally, he thinks that he should have an advantage over someone who works at Walmart or Target. And that women should come to him. But that is not really the case....

More logical than some pseudo intellectual claptrap comparing approaching women to bums begging on the street.

Excellent post skip. I sent an ad looking for a girl to be nice to me, and guess what, I found one. She was nice to me while she banged other guys, then wrote a song saying men are liars as some guy used her and dumped her like a hot potatoe. I blasted her for being a cheap wh0re.
