I would rather we be in the midst of a great depression'esque catastrophe
NOT REALLY A VIABLE OPTION we'd suffer much worse
than have let a select few banks get away with the largest heist in human history.
agree they have basically got away with it and will likely do it again sometime in the future, do not underestimate greed!

I believe that banking institutions are more dangerous to our liberties than standing armies. If the American people ever allow private banks to control the issue of their currency, first by inflation, then by deflation, the banks and corporations that will grow up around [the banks] will deprive the people of all property until their children wake-up homeless on the continent their fathers conquered. The issuing power should be taken from the banks and restored to the people, to whom it properly belongs.

- Thomas Jefferson
3rd president of US (1743 - 1826)
the founding fathers views were a lot more progressive than many of the politicians (e.g. GOP) and buinsess leaders today

Two Words...Gay America.
I knew the kid on the right from playing and reffing ice hockey back in college. he played on the JV team. Checking up on his facebook, he is hanging with some very hot women for sure. Dude completely changed his appearance after college.

I like the Thomas Jefferson quote you posted. Rather than blame capitalism/communism/socialism, why not look at the institutions which actually brought forth this mess? Banking. What value do they add? What value do hedge funds add? its a middle man that gets their cut without producing tangible assets to society, but still seems to have the power of the treasury backing it up when **** goes bad. No money? no problem, our friends at the fed can print money.

To get this back on topic, Hollister should be free to perform whatever hiring policies they desire. The truth is, many companies are doing the same thing. Rather than saying you have to be "good looking", instead they are saying you need 3 years of PHP experience, 4 years of JAVA experience, and to have worked at ____ for 5 years - offering 14 $ per hour. After applying to hundreds of jobs in the past 2 months, this is the norm. Many jobs are offering significantly LESS money than could be afforded to live where they are located. 20 k$ per year to live in the Boston Suburbs? Forget about it! Mechanical engineering jobs requiring 2 years of experience offering sub 40 k$? You better believe it. What hollister is doing is very indicative of the current economic market; with enough unemployed people, put ridiculous qualifications for any job.

The most ridiculous requirement I saw for an open position called for a masters in mechanical engineering with a "background preferred in chemical engineering". I wish I was making that up.

This just shows how the middle class in the US is dying.

Exactly, and market forces do not care that wages cannot sustain a comfortable life.

But the side effect is that lots of people are being humbled, quite a beautiful thing.

There are times when you have the hammer and times when you don't. Clearly in this economic environment, job seekers do NOT have the hammer.

Thanks EA_Gold and Alle_Gory for your accurate descriptions, though I would say it's corruption rather than morality that caused it. Bad men will do what they can to steal from the good ones if they aren't held at bay. Those who were supposed to be sentinel against bad men instead let it happen.
Sounds like the same thing to me. Corruption happens in an environment free of morals.

If people gave a sh*t about their fellow man and fought for something once in awhile, things would be better.

Yeah it sounds like we are approaching the same problem from different angles.

I would contend that people can do as they like and be as selfish as they like as long as they don't try to steal from or attack anybody. There are always people in every society who don't know how to earn a living or produce something of value and so will leech off their more productive counterparts. Sort of like a tick sucks the blood of its host until the host dies, then it will find a new host.

What I believe has happened is over the last 150 years, private interests have taken over most governments and are using government as a means to extort money from citizens through favorable legislation and unfair taxation.

Essentially boils down to the idea that when:

Unproductive > Productive = Decline of society

When white collar thieves, illegals on welfare, and unnecessary public servants outnumber the good/honest productive members of a society, it will come tumbling down either with a bang or a fizzle.

What Hollister is doing is normal and if they think that their policy is better for business then who is anybody to tell them they can't?

Don't always be the one putting yourself out for her. Don't always be the one putting all the effort and work into the relationship. Let her, and expect her, to treat you as well as you treat her, and to improve the quality of your life.
