Wasup dude, I have lived in both Melbourne and Sydney.. For a traveler, i would suggest checking out Sydney and Brisbane.. I would only come to Melbourne for a special event, eg Spring Carnival, or Grand Prix, or Comm games etc. When in Brisbane you can check out the Gold Coast, or you can go to Cairs or Noosa, both are nice.. Any other specific questions just ask.

I've been to Melbourne, Sydney, and Brisbane. My advice is this: Unless you've never seen a city in your life, you should hire a car, and go cruising around Australia, especially the coastal areas (south coast, east coast, and north-east coast).

Most Australian cities are like smaller versions of American cities. Melbourne is like San Francisco, Sydney is like New York, Brisbane is Miami, etc. But the countryside has some really cool places not found in the US or England - massive cliffs, huge rocks sitting in stormy seas. Especially the south coast which faces Antartica.

If you want to talk, talk to your friends. If you want a girl to like you, listen to her, ask questions, and act like you are on the edge of your seat.

As someone who lives in Australia and has travelled to lots of places around the world, I can positively say you will find Australia a lot cheaper to buy stuff like food and accomodation. The conversion rate from the pound is great for you, for every one pound you get around $2.50AU and it works out a fair bit cheaper here.. We were very suprised at the cost of stuff all over England, just to get food it was sometimes double or more what we're used to.

Don't forget to reherse: "G'day mate, oweryou'doin?" 10 times every night before you go to sleep. ;)

Australia is pretty much like SA when it comes to tourism. The best stuff happens outside the cities. :)
