whether it's too much or not, I really can't say. For me it was not a problem, and I made some fast gains but I guess it will depend on the person's body type.

Try to lift more every week, little by little, and focus on getting stronger. The body will follow.

edit - also beginner gains happen no matter what routine you use. what he means by that is, when you first start working out, your muscles are not dense, and are untrained. When you first start working out, you will make good progress because those untrained muscles will become denser. But after you fill them out, your gains slow down because you have to build new muscle tissue rather then fill out existing one.

Good point, it really DOES all depend on the body type. I, like you, made fast gains but i did a 2-day split. Wouldn't it make sense to TRY a 2-day split and see if he can handle it, if not he can move to a routine like yours (similair to what i do now).

Good advice. What routine you choose won't do a thing if your not pushing yourself every week (remember good form!).

Thanks for the info. I wasn't aware of this. If this is true then it would make sense that no matter what routine you do, as long as each muscle group is used there will be gains.
