It's not what's 'wrong' with them, but rather it's too many carbs at once, even for a single serving.

Granted I'm sure you could get away with a slice of whole wheat bread every once and while but I wouldn't try it.
Didnt you just say bodybuilders often eat sandwiches? Are you saying that's not necessarily the best thing to do?

I feel like I'm learning something here. What ill effects do carbs have for you? I'm not talking junk food carbs but good things like whole wheat breads, rice and such.

Another thing, I love potatos. Mashed, baked, whatever. As long as you leave the heaping pat of butter off them, is it okay to have them? Having a steak with no potatos just seems unnatural. Like having a hot dog without the bun.

It's not necessarily an ill effect, but it won't help you to lean out.

A lot of breads have fake ingredients added into them. A lot of NATURAL bodybuilders are into their health as well so they just eat healthy from the get-go.

Another thing, I love potatos. Mashed, baked, whatever. As long as you leave the heaping pat of butter off them, is it okay to have them?

If your going to have a potato, rice, corn or bread do it in the A.M. due to the starch content.

Like having a hot dog without the bun.

If you cared about your health you wouldn't eat hot dogs.

What does the starch do to your body?

Ah, I don't often eat hot dogs. When I eat them I buy the low fat kosher brand and I chop them up and cook them with beans, camp style.

My friends(both sub 6% bodyfat) told me to watch potatoes, bread, corn & rice due to starch content. I don't know what it does,I just listen to my friends and in time it pays off.

VERY VERY HEAVY CALORIES THAT DONT BURN EASILY AND TURN INTO FAT
Damn, plain potatoes that have no sour cream and butter can still make me fat??? What about brown rice? Ok?

Starches are good for energy though right? If I'm about to go on a bike ride, then is it cool?

nothing is wrong with rice and wheat bread. those are good carbs. body builders don't stay away from that. infact carbs are very important. maybe after a certain time like 8pm or a few hours before they go to bed they be sure not to consume any carbs, but there are good carbs and need to be consumed for energy.

I mean of course, eating ANY food and sitting on the couch all day will be bad for you. think of foods for fueling your body, not as an enjoyment.

bad carbs would be what you need to stay away from which is like pizza, chips, etc.

No pizza huh? I'll cut back on it, but totally eliminate one of my favorite things on earth, no way bro! :nono:

I believe in moderation. I'm not going to commit myself to a lifetime of nothing but brown rice, broccoli and skinless chicken breasts. I think you have some "bad" stuff here and there as long as you don't get carried away with it and you're getting plenty of excercise. Italians eat lots of pizza but rarely do you see any fat people in Italy. They just don't have the same sedintary lifestyle so common in the U.S.
