Having more fun at social events.

Yeah, well there's this social event coming up called the military ball, which is basically a dance and dinner for band members. I'm thinking about not going though, because I know it would just be a waste of time and I would just be the quiet dude sitting down pretending to have fun, while everyone else socialized/danced. There will be a lot of girls from band there, but knowing the coward I am, I would just be sitting there, wanting to approach girls, but continually making excuses not to and even I did approach girls, I wouldn't really get anything accomplished, say, getting a dance with her. Truth is, I do want to go to this event, but firstly, I wouldn't talk to anyone and I would just be sitting in the corner bored, while everyone else danced.

Ok viper this is what you do watch fight club as many times as you can then the night before the dance cut your hair really short wright tyler ****ing durden on the your hand cuase it usually makes you feel more inpowering then when at the dance go up to random girls and be like i dont think ive met you whats your name blah balah well you care to dance start out with ugly chicks first work your way up if you feel like your gonna ***** out look at your hand and say im tyler ****ing durden i can do whatever the **** i want and could care less what anyone thinks dont worry about getting numbers or ***** or anything other than having fun

I think what you need, more than anything, is to rid yourself of your pessimistic attitude.

I highly, highly recommend reading Emerson's "Self-Reliance", and make sure to give it a GOOD read through so that you understand what he's saying, not just a skim over it. You can find it on the internet if you need it; it's long, but it's worth it.
