56andre, The VERY valid point you are trying to make, is undermined significantly by your attitude and spelling/grammar.
Well like I said before, this is an internet discussion forum, so I just don't give a $hit!!!!

I try to see things in black & white, that's why it's hard for you intellectuals to accept my attitude & poor spelling grammar.

Seeing things in black & white is much easier than intellectualising, I find out that all the intellectuals will rave on for eternity only to conclude that it is either black or white, do you get what I mean!!!

So then I like to keep it short & simple & to the point without the bull$hit!!!

If you get the point (which none of you have), that’s all that matters, who gives a $hit about spelling & grammar!!!

Oh yea, & another thing on intellectuals

Intellectuals tell the truth disguised in a suit

I'm the truth running around naked offending everyone!!!

Intellectuals show that they are displeased in a thousand word essay!!

I can show I'm displeased in two words

"fvck you"

Let me ask you all a question!!!

Imagine all the things you have, all the possessions you have!
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
Have you done it?

Now imagine yourself deserted, with nothing, you lost everything, absolutely everything.

What do you feel like???
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.

If you feel any different, well then that means you are affected by your environment!!!

Even if you feel good after you lost everything, that still means your inner self is effected by you outer self!!!

But

On the other hand if you feel the same, provided that you are not suicidal, well then you have achieved a spiritual apex most people can only dream of!!!!!!

Bleh, you guys are funny. There is no doubt that Christmas is to make money for companies, and honestly, the rate at which we are consuming things we are fvcking the planet at lightening speed -- ie, mining and cutting and clearing so some kid can ***** and whine as he throws his iPod across the room.

If everyone lived like we do here in the US, we'd need another 3 Earths.

--A girl I know who immigrated from Russia told me that most of the grocery stores there stock VERY limited food supplies...you are lucky to choose what you can eat. In Russia, you eat what's available. Therefore, I've never once complained about having to shop at an American chain grocery store...I'm very happy and consider it a luxury to live in the USA, where I have NEVER worried about food being scarce.
You pretty much defined my OP, I said it’s ok if you have complete conviction like oxygen or water, same goes for food, should have put food & water!!! Fvck it!

--My ex-GF's sister lived in Australia...she told me that very few households there own dryers...
Have you ever considered that Australia is the driest continent in the world??? Why have a dryer?
haahahahahaha

and very few can CHOOSE to attend college...
Well education should be a right, not a privilege, its ridicules the amounts of money you need if you want a degree in college.

Governments are shipping in immigrants that have skills instead of educating the population to have those skills, but it is more lucrative to ship in already skilled labour.

In the long run, they are shooting themselves in the foot; in the future those immigrants are going to rule the nation which will bring in a domino effect on things like racial tensions, gaps between rich & poor, etc. But since in Western politics terms only last for about 4 years, they only think what they can do to improve in 4 years to show off to the people in hopes of winning the next election, with the expense of the future!

Got a bit off track there!!!

You get the point!

And define "spiritual" please? I've yet to have anyone define this word sufficiently.

You posted earlier that you like to keep things "black and white." You're getting very gray here...i.e. "spiritual apex."
Spiritual

Of, relating to, consisting of, or having the nature of spirit; not tangible or material.

Apex

The highest point

I agree. They tell us that we should buy things we don't need. But I for one, don't comply with that. For example, I don't feel the need to buy a new Iphone. I just buy a cheap one for 20 dollars, because I only need to call and text, that's all a phone should be capable off.

But, the work thing is more complicated. Tell me, how can you get out of the routine going to work every day? How else could you get the money to buy food? I don't work yet, but yes, it does sound like a nightmare to have a 9 to 5 job, but what is the alternative? Being a homeless beggar?

There are lots of alternative ways of living. I spent some time recently on an organic farm, and there are lots of people who live in different ways. Some of them pay for health care policies, ect, but for the most part refrain from mainstream society.

There are many people who run their own businesses, or work from home. Nine to five is the standard, but there are many ways to live outside of the mold. Just keep investigating what you love in life, and keep working to build the type of lifestyle you want.

I've not read the whole thread but the OP's philosophy seems very similar to Fight Club ( 'your possessions own you' etc.) and there certainly is a degree of sense to it. I can't believe how many people totally missed the ball on this one.

Have you ever travelled[sic]???

I've traveled a lot, where have you been and for how long?

I don't watch TV, I don't consume a lot, but I do have an overpowered motorcycle (maybe a 2nd one soon) and a late model modest car. I have a nice TV (newish 40" LCD) and I like movies. I have a decent gaming rig with a 30" LCD on that as well, which doubles as a work rig.

I live simply and earn a large paycheck, and I'll be retiring and living well at an early age. Am I foolish? Maybe, but I don't know how to live any better, and I don't see you putting out any positive suggestions, all I see is negative from you.

Respectfully: why don't you try defining the word on your own terms rather than someone else's?

The linked definition is what I would say.

Ok I’ll define spiritual for your well being:

When you have such a strong idea of yourself that nothing can change that, whatever environment you’re in, then you have reach a strong spirit.

See, it’s pretty much the same meaning just unnecessarily more complex.

I can go on but that will just bring up some grey areas. If you want a complex answer then you’re asking the wrong person, let’s keep it black & white!!!

I have to ask that if the whole point of this thread is to tell people not to let their possessions own them, how do you not let it happen? The reason I ask is that the guy whom the holiday is named for kicked over a table in a temple because they were doing wrong, but he could back up his display with a new way to live.

I mean, you have basically kicked the table over, but what's the follow up? Are you ready to give everything away you have to the homeless on the streets? Are you going to stop going out to eat since it's only because of your priveledged position in the world that you have the oppurtunity to do so when you want? All I say is that its really easy to show contempt for things, but it's a different matter to do anything about it.

I always find it hilarious; people who complain about capitalism don't seem to eager to give up the benefits it bestows.. i'd rather be a capitalist than a f.ucking hypocrite.

You really want to live the anticapitalist life.. go live in the trees like a hippy squirrel

to me is sounds like what a lot of you guys are talking about is what is called "Crony Capitalism". In the system we have now big businesses collude with big government to pass laws and regulations that keep them in power. This is not true capitalism. In a real capitalist society, the government doesn't interfere in the market and businesses get where they are on merit, not lobbying.

Also, Christmas is awesome. I love giving gifts and receiving gifts. I love the lights. I love the cheesy specials. I love going to church. Stop bein' such a scrooge! :)

Blah blah, the EVIL capitalists hypnotize you and force you to buy things. They hold a gun to your head.
Worse than having a gun to my head, I have to hear every single company that advertises on television have their own rendition of some Christmas carol or song that I used to like when I was a kid. Makes me want to slam a couple of one ounce slugs into my 46 inch flatscreen.

Be an independent affiliate, be a good salesman, make your own hours by being good at something that is a niche and specializing in it. Do so good at your 9-5 for 2 years that you get a telecommuting proposal approved, where you can now do your job from home for 2 weeks out of the month. Have more time and less commute, become even more productive and specialized in the niche because you are able to work when you want to during the day, or until 2 in the morning if you like.

It comes down to getting after it yourself instead of letting someone define how much you are worth per hour. This usually means some form of commission or just having your own growing small business, much easier said than done.

Anyway that's what I'm going for.
