Every Jew I've ever met was white. So you think the are trying to commit suicide?

Well it's not about a race thing as it is an ethnic thing. Some people are ethnocentric and like to subdivide themselves in to a group. There's really only 3 distinct races. For example most Spanish or Latin people are white race but they sometimes like to divide by ethinicity if it suits their purposes. Many people indentifying themselves as Jews are clearly European on top of being white.

Hah, good luck man. I looked into doing this a while back, and I even talked to a few screenwriters who were active in the business. Apparently, everyone enters that line of working thinking they're going to change movies altogether, only to get to California and find out that things are the way they are because they make a lot of people a lot of money. Numerous posters on this thread have already made this point.

I don't mean to discourage you, though. If it's what you want to do, then by all means look into it and make the right contacts.

I know how you feel. It just seems like Hollywood can't produce an original idea anymore. Every movie is either a rehashing of something that is older and probably better done, or it's based on a comic book or something like that. But, I think it's that way not because people lack creativity, but because these are things that sell well and traditionally have done very well at the box office.

The comedies that come out now aren't all that good. I haven't gone to a movie and laughed my ass off in a real long time. I really can't figure out what people see in Will Ferrell movies or most of Apatow's collection. There aren't usually many jokes. It's just a guy acting goofy or white people acting awkward around each other. I usually laugh a little bit, but overall I just don't get the humor.
I think to some extent that's true...movies are the way they are right now because a lot of the public likes them.

But, I still say they're screwing up, even from a business standpoint. Movies in general, with a few exceptions, have not done well this decade. People in the industry blame it on the internet, illegal downloading, etc., but I think it has a lot to do with the movies themselves.

How do you explain that "The Godfather" is still the most popular movie ever? That when "Raiders of the Lost Ark" or "Rocky" is on somewhere, everybody crowds around the TV. Nobody is whining about these movies not conforming to current "PC" thought...on the contrary, they love it. Those movies feel real. They have soul. Movies today just feel so staged and phony...none of that 70's grittiness or 80's sense of fun and adventure...

It is depressing to see everybody enjoying these crap movies, but they're just accepting what they're being fed. I think most of the public still appreciates quality though. I also think that by making great movies again, we'll bring in the audiences of 30's and up that has been mostly alienated in recent years...don't these people realize that people in their 50's and up used to go to the movies regularly? All they care about is the teenage market, because that's the majority of who goes now...because the movies have alienated everyone else. It's a circular thing......

But, first things first. First have to get into the industry, meet the right people, etc. etc.

And yes, I'm going to do this or go down trying, and no one could ever talk me out of it:)

Movies are as much a reflection of mainstream popular opinion as they try to influence it. Making money usually takes precedence to pushing a social agenda. These movies get made because people will pay to see them. If you really think Hollywood is shoving stuff down our throats, you're ignoring the reality that nothing moves but the money

Far as these movies being full of AFC social conditioning, I swear to god man, be grateful you're able to see right through it because you're in the minority. Whenever I talk about relationships and females with coworkers of mine that are still single or in LTR's - these guys are in their late 20's to mid 30's - they have such warped negative views on women, dating, etc. They talk about how they figured it all out already and they've accepted that they gotta surrender what they wanna do to be with this girl, or how they're trying to get one last year of freedom before they move in with their girl, or other socially conditioned nonsense.

Their perspective is just so ridiculous to me, I don't even bother to share my views anymore because my reality is so different I get this blank look from them

Your on to something here. Look at all the old non pc movies that were absolutely great. The whole illegal downloading/pirating thing is a big scapegoat. If they made quality movies that didn't cost $20+ a dvd, they would sell a lot more.

I think this is a bigger problem with society today. Everyone is so afraid of offending someone.

A movie which ends up in a marriage between a man and a woman and inspiration for another man to marry one woman is now a movie promoting a gay agenda?

You're REALLY reaching dude.

The most effective social conventions are ones in which the subject willingly sublimates his own interests, discourages questioning it, and predisposes that person to encourage the convention with others. This is the essence of the Matrix; anything can become normal.

This pretty much sums up the entirety of the problem - masculinity has been redefined by people (men and women) who have no concept of what it's original definition was. The behaviors and characteristics that constitute what is uniquely masculine aren't being challenged; they've been redefined to fit the purposes of an agenda. I disagree that this is a uniquely homosexual agenda, nor is it a feminist agenda, but it is a feminization effort. This feminization serves many interests, and because it has become normalized people internalize it, use it, reinforce it and broadcast it to others often without ever knowing they are.

The formulaic, archetypal example of the freewheeling, woman-using, single "man" (Jason Segel) being the hollow, ultimately unfulfilled, male is a good illustration of how this feminization is used to serve a heterosexual male agenda. How so? Because in reinforcing this archetype the feminized heterosexual male is essentially having his 'not-like-other-guys' feminine uniqueness confirmed for him.

There is no grand conspiracy, no secret mysterious cabal pushing a negative perception of masculinity - There doesn't need to be a unitary group of 'anti-men', homosexuals or militant feminists bent on some melodramatic goal of world domination. This feminized ideal is already embedded in our socialization. It doesn't need one because the mindset is already so installed and perpetuated by society at large it's now taken for granted and self-replicating. Media conglomerates don't realize their own bias because it's been standardized, encouraged and reinforced in them, and society, over the course of several generations now. What's to question? Especially when calling attention to the feminization dynamic leads to ridicule and ostricization?

I think it's becoming pretty clear that Hollywood has an agenda that it's forcing on the general public. I saw that "I Love You, Man" movie yesterday with some friends. There were a few funny parts, but it was mostly just offensive how emasculating and manipulative the entire movie was. It opens with one guy, Paul Rudd, asking his girlfriend to marry him. He is the typical chump, who is socially awkward and lacking in confidence and who by the way would never get women real life. He doesn't understand the mechanics of male friendships and has never really had any dude friends, which leaves him without a best man or groomsmen for his wedding. So, he goes on a series of man-dates in an effort to make some guy friends.

The "dating scenes" were so awkward and emasculating that it was sickening. I almost got up and left during a couple of them, and I never have walked out of a movie - once I pay my $7.50, I'm there for the long haul. People were cackling and cracking up in the theater, while me and some older marine-looking guy sitting in front of me were appalled by what we were watching. It's just frustrating that society as a whole thinks crap like this is funny, and that a niche exists for a movie like this.

Paul Rudd meets a guy - Jason Segel - whom he "hits it off" with. Segel is the typical bachelor who has a cool house with a lot of cool man toys in it, like flat screen TVs and guitars. He sleeps with a lot of random women and talks openly about his masturbation habits. Segel begins rubbing off on Rudd, and the bromance forms.

Predictably, the movie (which was way too damn long for a comedy by the way) heads down a typical path. After a fight with his new best friend, Segel has an epiphany that he needs to grow up and become a little bit more like Rudd, who acts his age and is ultimately portrayed as the emotionally mature one. It ends with Rudd getting married to the girl of his dreams, and Segel having a revelation that he needs to become more like Rudd.

Sorry if I ruined the movie for you, but I think I might have done you a favor by doing so.

Admittedly, I laughed a few times during the movie - Rudd and Segel were pretty good in it, and any flick that can poke fun at the band Rush will get a couple of laughs out of me. But, I can't help but feel like the underlying theme of the entire movie was that it's acceptable and ultimately correct to be like Rudd, who is an emasculated faggot of a dude, and that everyone is a little bit gay deep down inside, and that gays are like us, and that we should all vote against Proposition 8.

I normally don't rant about stuff like this, but there really wasn't a soap box tall enough for me after I was done watching this movie. With movies like this crap and "Made of Honor" and "Milk", it's hard for me not to be suspicious of Hollywood's motives. It just seems like a gay agenda is being forced down people's throats. Why did Sean Penn win the best actor Oscar over Mickey Rourke? Because the Academy is froofy and sympathetic to gays and willing to use any opportunity to force their viewpoints upon the mass public. I saw The Wrestler - it instantly became one of my favorite movies of all time. I don't know how Rourke couldn't have won best actor for it, especially when he won the Golden Globe for his performance. Well, yeah I do, I just answered that question.

I don't want to give the impression that I'm homophobic. I have a few friends who are gay and am generally accepting of them, provided they keep their relationships to themselves and respect the fact that I'm not gay. But, I really don't like it when a mass medium of any sort is trying to force its viewpoints on the general public in a manipulative and deceitful fashion.

Hollywood really, really pisses me off. Men who act like women are the norm, and the chump pvssy dude always gets the girl in the end. You have to wonder at some point if someone is playing puppet master. :trouble:

It's gotten so I really can't even watch movies anymore.
Sounds like another propaganda movie.

Men becoming more like women and women becoming more like men.

It will soon be normal that guys wear man purses, wear skirts, makeout with each other etc...

Movies try to brainwash you that completely stupid and outrageous things are now "normal" and of course the masses are buying it without questioning anything.

First it is shocking, then it is not so bad and then it is normal.

God, people are so goddamn stupid.

A better place, a better time.
I thought Yes Man with Jim Carrey was a pretty good movie with a solid anti-AFC message.

Basically Carrey is this whiny little ***** who has been afraid to do anything with his life for three years since his wife left him for another man. He gets talked into saying Yes to everything he is asked to do for an entire year, which of course causes him to push his comfort zone, take crazy chances, let go of his fear, get wrapped up in ridiculous situations, etc. It's the kick in the ass a lot of people could use.

It ends (obviously) with him deciding saying Yes to everything is as dumb as saying No to everything, but that happiness lies in simply doing whatever the hell you want to, whenever the hell you want to, because it makes you happy.

But imagine that, eh? A life with no fear, you take on challenges for the simple fact that they are there to be attempted. You don't back down. A lot of guys could use that ****.

you can't really compare old movies like godfather and raiders to todays crap, becuase there was just as much crap back then. It just didn't survive. The moives from today people will be watching twenty years or more from now will be the same. Only the solid one's will remain watchable, and the rest of the crap (that you might have gotten a few laughs out of) will be forgotten.

few people in hollywood have ever had the vision to purposely make a movie that will "be remembered" in fifty years. They all have their bottom lines to worry about.

it's the nature of the business. don't get your panties in a bunch worrying about some anti male AFC matrix conspiracy.

People make what people will buy. And most people ARE, and HAVE BEEN clueless symps for thousands of years. Ain't nothing new.

The problem with comparing NOW to the past, is only the GOOD STUFF from the past stands out among the rest of the crap that was the same then as it is today.
