After years and years of a thick head of hair I think the enemy has finally arrived (Male Pattern Baldness).

I am now 46 and I have noticed my hairline receding and my thickness on the top of my head has lessened.

I bought Nioxin 2 shampoo which contains Minoxidil. I have not seen any results yet, but it can take 2 to 4 months.

I personally think all these lotions, pills, etc are all rubbish and the only cure is a hair transplant.

I won't shave my head because I won't look good bald (ears that stick out and a larger size nose)

Thoughts?

Minoxidil has the potential to have sexual side effects.

You could look into PRP injections or get a full transplant. If the balding is minimal, you'll usually be treated with some combination of pills, laser caps, shampoos, or PRP injections.

I wouldn't touch minoxidil with anyone's scalp. Sh!t can have permanent side effects even after you stop using it that are pretty bad. And for what? Some hair?

Fvck no. Shave your head and embrace it

There are like 5 or 6 different things you can do. Educate yourself, there is a lot of high quality information on the subject. I have great hair genes and I still know a lot about the topic in spite of that.

I'll link you to the 3 best sources of information that I know of. I haven't watched Huberman's video but it's probably worth a watch. Btw, if you don't want to use minixidil, there are other 4 methods that I know of which are discussed in videos I linked. These are: micro-needling, dutasteride, Ketoconazole shampoo, and reducing stress and facial tension.

Shave your head and embrace it
Bro I am a bit sick of this mentality. That's the same kind of logic people use when they say the best way to prevent pregnancy is to not have sex. On some level I can respect this though, owning up to it and rocking the bald head is definitely better than clinging on, but it's also very reductionistic to just give up and assume it won't work or is too risky or complicated or whatever. Why not at least try? There are less risky methods than minixidil and RCs. Hell, if all else fails, i'd even consider transplants if it happened to me. It's almost a requirement to have a full head of hair if you wanna keep fvcking women who are 20 or under. And really, lets stop pretending it doesn't matter. Obviously any bald man would prefer to have a full head of hair if he could.

You should give topical min a shot. I don't believe in the shampoo cause the medication doesn't stay on ur scalp to absorb. My derm put me on min a while ago and it work great but because my balding is too aggressive it is no longer that effective for me.

For effective improvement in hair, you cannot rely on just one thing. You have to stack treatments. I personally am doing Finastride, Minoxidil (both oral), and microneedling. And all those will be for life or as long as you want to keep hair.

There are a few things one can do. It is always best to start the treatment process when you first seeing the hair thinning or shedding. Keep in mind, the average person does shed about 30 strands of hair a day.

The iRestore Essential Laser Hair Growth System is a good and relatively affordable option. It does stimulate hair growth, but takes about 3-6 months to help grow thicker hair. If you are already bald, it's not going to grow it back.

This Apple Cider Vinegar shampoo and conditioner set also yields decent results.

Adding a Lysine supplement may be a low cost option which should yield results. Lysine helps limit cortisol production, LDL cholesterol, lower blood pressure and combat stress. High cortisol levels due to stress can lead to hair loss.

Another option would be topical minoxidil/finasteride or topical dutasteride. I do not recommend or suggest that anyone take the oral finasteride or dutasteride. Both can cause impotence, birth defects, ED and other side effects. The topical options suggest that they do not enter the blood stream and do not cause these effects. I've been on both for 10+ years, no issues.

I would start with the low cost options and work up from there. For disclosure, I use all of the listed items above in some way or another, so I am speaking from experience. As always, anyone reading this should seek medical advice before starting any regimen. This is what I do, and what has worked for me.

Rogaine minox foam is what I use on my hairline and it brought my temples back like they were in my 20s. Kirkland brand minox is good too. I don’t like liquid minox because of Propylene glycol which can irritate the skin. Plus foam dries out much quicker and less messy. I’m going to start dermastamping once a week.
I would consider a transplant on my hairline and temples if they recede bad down the line.
You only live once.

Just because a woman listens to you and acts interested in what you say doesn't mean she really is. She might just be acting polite, while silently wishing that the date would hurry up and end, or that you would go away... and never come back.

Topical Finasteride and topical Minoxidil at low percentage have less sides

@BackInTheGame78 @oc16 Did you tried and got sides?
I would never touch that trash.

Too many people get serious long lasting and permanent side effects even after they stop with that. Just isn't worth it.

There is actually something new they found that is a form of a sugar molecule somewhat by accident that grows hair back better than either of these and it's side effect free.

"The internet mass".

No, it's called scientific, peer reviewed and published studies from medical journals.

The bald (!) truth is this,if you have got so far in that you have noticed your hair thinning/losing,then any meds or lotions wont give you the required result you want. They may help you stop losing more, but thats it,if you want your hair back the only option is a syrup,or a transplant. Speaking from experience,iv had 3 HT and they are great. Because I went to a reputable surgeon..YOU CANNOT TELL. This is not self delusion either,if i choose to tell new people, they are amazed..they cannot believe the before and after pics...so,go for it!

There is no definite medicine to increase hair growth. All you can do is opt for some good laser treatment for hair growth.
