I'm done with HS in 6 weeks. I'm having fun hanging out with some friends for the last time. I just realized end of 2nd semester senior year HS is 1 BIG joke. The quest to be popular is a lie. I was a nerd/dork/loser in 9th. I was a man in 10th-12th. I mean thats it. I gained a sense of humor and I became loved by women and envied by men. Thats all I did and I became popular. I didn't go to parties because I just didn't feel like it. I'm the most carefree indivual in the world. Peer pressure is not a factor for me. I've been asked to drink, smoke, or even try acid, but I just was like not right now. I basically befriended the school. No one didn't like me. I talked with goth, nerds, skaters, jocks, to "popular" people. They all wanted to hang out with me, but I only hung out with a handful of people. My REAL friends, the non fonies. The ones classified as "Nerds" or "Dorks." I hung out with them because they made me laugh and had a good time. I had 2 or 3 g/f's say. Mr. Disaster why do you hang out with these guys? I'm like Ms. Disaster you will know if you ever hang out with them. So they did and that was that. I think i was so loved was because people got confused by which group I was in. One second I would be with my REAL friends the next I would be talking to Skaters. I just didn't care what "group" people classified me in. Thats it. I just didn't care what people thought. My friends would say I have NO friends in my class. I couldn't say anything because I would be like never had that happen except in 9th when I didn't talk. 10-12th I would sit with a group at least 5 in a class not including women begging me to be there partners.
I would talk to popular people,
"Hey, I got this party on my lake house. I got a Keg..."
I would just find some reason to decline. I mean I'd rather hang out with my REAL friends than go get Trashed by a lake. I was reading DreamX's posts. (This guy needs new goals) You think about it; You'll spend 4 years trying to the be the best, when you should really just enjoy the freedom (from bills) while you have it.
So instead of going after a goal that is overrated, just go and be yourself. Simple as that.
The point is BE YOURSELF. It doesn't matter if your popular. Make your life the way you want.
I'm kind of a science geek/philospher. In life your told to act like a certain way, buy certain things, and be certain things. Why is it that we question buying things but we don't question what things we want to be. There is no thought "I don't want to be popular" it is "When can I be popular" It is a mirage. It won't happen. Hang with your friends and whatever happens, happens.
