I made it through, guys.

Almost unbearable pain when I woke up, but it has settled down.

Younger nurses are responding quite well. Details later. I've got this incredibly cute volunteer finding every excuse she can to come into my room and chat. Sent her out to the drug store to get me some cough drops.

Lesson: Get a girl to serve you and she's in the palm of your hand as this touches upon her very primal instincts.

I have a lot of painful hard work ahead today as they get me up and about for the first time. Thanks again for all the support, fellas.

Turns out L2/L3 were fractured and this was invisible in the MRIs. Surgeons had to pull out bone fragments, harvest some additional bone from my back and fuse the vertebrae with a cement made from bone and certain other substances. Then a titanium brace was screwed in. Pain is massive in spite of drugs. Just gotta hang tough.

Nice work with that nurse. Good advice for the next time I go in... BJ report soon? Keep taking those drugs, you'll need em, if you got any extra save some for the homies.

Create self-fulfilling prophecies. Always assume the positive. Assume she likes you. Assume she wants to talk to you. Assume she wants to go out with you. When you think positive, positive things happen.

I'm back home, guys. Pain is still off the charts. I'm able to walk around and such, but I really am biting the bullet all day. It's only going to get better from here.

Had to teach a young, nasty East-European or Russian nurse who the boss is. You guys would undoubtedly consider her an absolute, no argument ten. Too much pain to write about it now, but I will in the near future. Amazing how those entitled, stuck up "you-know-whats" respond to a strong hand. Let's just say I handled her for now.

Experimented with the older guy creepiness factor with great success with other extremely young nurses/volunteers. I come off as young vibrant 30-something in RL, but in my hospital bed in massive pain I was the older guy. Played around with how to overcome the creepy effect to great effect. Again, too much pain to get into it now, more later.

Thanks again to all my well-wishers. For the spiritually-minded, please keep me in your prayers for pain relief and avoidance of infection. For the others, your good wishes expressed toward me are genuinely appreciated.

I missed you all.

I asked him about that a long time ago... I remember him saying he didn't.
Wrong... You'd better believe I'm suing her ass. I already have a summary judgment against her (other side admits guilt).

Challenge is that in New York State, satisfactory back injury settlements are notoriously difficult to get. NYS is well known for this in legal circles. Still, the surgeons had no idea my spine was actually shattered, so that helps my case enormously. The other side was hanging its hat on some kind of pre-existing condition (I've never had a back problem in my life prior to accident.

Hard to believe I've been walking around and working hard with a broken back for the past 3 years.

It doesn't matter how good-looking you are, how romantic you are, how funny you are... or anything else. If she doesn't have something INVESTED in you and the relationship, preferably quite a LOT invested, she'll dump you, without even the slightest hesitation, as soon as someone a little more "interesting" comes along.
