Having reflected on this a bit I think I'm going to stay with my current job for the meantime work towards a few goals and revaluate in August .
We've got a pipeline of projects so I think there will be opportunities to push for more responsibility. I see it like a game of tug of war sometimes you can make a smaller advance sometimes a big advance some days you just have to hold the line.
I've been diagnosed with a minor heart condition going in for a very safe procedure next week which has a 90% chance of fixing the problem. So I'd like to get that behind me
I'm definitely a bit more politically savvy than I was a year ago. I've had 3 people in my current team try and move in on my patch and I've seen them all off. It's a new team for me and they'd been working in it for some time. I came in as an analyst and the boss gave me a management position so it was inevitable that I would be challenged.
He comes from a consulting company and two of the other guys there are in the same consulting company. Obviously he's getting a bit of kick back. So not sure I will ever be in the inner circle in this team.
To complicate the political landscape further just about everybody is Indian in the team and the boss always hires more Indians but the way the i t industry is over here I better get used to dealing with that.
I've only been in this team 3 months so I'm willing to give it another 3 months to see how it plays out. Longer term I will need to move into more General project management as my current team deals with the specific area of Technology, I don't want to be pigeonholed
