Be more aggressive with what you say! You can easily get away with it as opposed to an extremely masculine guy who should be subdle. You can exude masculine energy without being huge or rough.

I look at it this way. If she found you completely unattractive, she wouldn't care if you were gay or not. It would be a moot point. Their curiousity is based on some level of interest/attraction.
