Girls' e-mail addresses

Ok, just need to get more opinion on asking girls for their e-mail addresses instead of phone numbers.

I'm from an Asian country and the girls here are kinda more conservative. Thus, asking for phone numbers can kinda freak them out. An e-mail address is more secure and comfortable for them, as they can just delete the e-mail etc.
I can get her phone number afer the first few e-mails.

Now, I would like to ask all the guys here who've approached female strangers for their e-mail addresses.

Did you succeed or fail with most of them? Did most of them reject you? Gave you crap?

Yeah maybe it's different over there but getting her email address without getting her number is basically like getting rejected in a semi-nice way. It means absolutely nothing and it's pretty lame IMO.
