girlfriend starts smoking

today, i was talking with a friend of mine and he told me my girlfriend's been recently seen smoking in the school's backyard.

she's spent the last year getting mad at me because i drink too much and smoke too much pot and now she smokes cigarettes. i mean, i drink and smoke pot because it's fun, but she's smoking cigarettes, which is just to make others think you're "mature" or something. i'm sure she didn't tell me, but wanted me to know. what can i do? i now feel like sh1t, because it's my fault if she's started smoking and i don't want her to pick up such a bad habit because of me

Why don't you set an example and stop then? It works both ways, you can't expect someone to not shout when you're shouting.

it's different. i'm not smoking to impress people, i'm smoking because i enjoy it. how do i know she's not trying to impress me?

she would have started in middle school or in her freshman year, as everybody, not in her senior year... moreover, she's always been against it...

Trying to explain that to her would be pointless.

Push it, and she might just say, "Fine, I'm doing it because I enjoy it too."

c'mon i just smoke pot on an otherwise boring saturday night... i'd never touch cigarettes... i mean, what's the point of smoking something that will ruin your health BUT won't even get you high?!

Look, just sit her down and tell her you're concerned about her. Ask her why she's doing it and hear her response straight from her mouth. Then decide what to do then.
