I would suggest you not ask her if she just wants to be friends. She a girl so her emotions are crazy because of that alone. She just broke up with her boyfriend so multiply that by 100. Basically, she doesn't know what the hell she wants.

I could be missing something here but why do you even need to send her a message. Want to really gauge her interest? Like several others have said already, just completely cease contact. If she starts to contact you wondering what's going on then there's at least some interest but no more than that. If not, well then you saved yourself the bother.
