Last year, I was corresponding with this woman on OK Cupid. I got her digits even and talked a couple of times on the phone (would even text me some scenery from her location when she travels for work) and made FIRM arrangements to meet for our first date (or meet, whatever).
Then she texted me, saying that her boss dropped the bomb at the last minute and needed her to work on a Saturday, an out of town assignment. She said she'd be in touch as the day progresses if she makes it back in town on time.
Turns out, she wound up getting in pretty late, so couldn't make the date. Then...her profile just vanished completely. I sent her text asking her why it was deleted and she said something about her dog dying and she wasn't in the mood to be dating right now.
Really? You stop dating because your dog died? Don't get me wrong, I'm an animal lover, and prior to her...my dog had to be put down a couple years before that, but to be honest...going out in general would help me get my mind off of it.
She did the fade, then completely ghosted.
Now...a year later, she's back on OK Cupid....so instead of messaging her...I still had her phone # and contacted her... "Hey, long time no see...I was going through my list of contacts and noticed your phone #, so I figured I'd contact you to how you've been"
She did answer with a standard, "Things been going pretty well." and that was it. Then I said, "Well, since I saw you were back on OK Cupid I am to figure you're back ready to date? Care to meetup ?
*Crickets*
Chances are, she's using it for an ego boost. Sadly, she said she moved down here to "take care of her parents" so they're living with her, even though they are capable people. So she tends to use them as an excuse for a lot of things. Apparently, they don't drive....so she chauffeurs them around.
She'll sign in onto OK Cupid...occasionally. Been a few months since that last contact...feel like saying, "So you back on here catfishing dudes again? lol"
