Who cares? Flirt with other girls. Not in a spiteful way though, that is lame. But just show her that you are able to NEXT her. Subltety is the key here. She thinks that you are in the bag then she gets bored, make her concentrate on you. I don't think that saying anything to her is the right move. no, actually i'd be pissed too. go call her up seriously, and tell her it's over. but i'm not kidding, go tell her, that is straight bull****, you deserve better than her stupid ass. and if you're friend was really a friend, he wouldn't be playing along. go dump her. don't hesitate.
just say "i'm not getting anything out of this relationship, and i think i can do better off on my own" or if you want to mention it, say "there are plenty of other girls that won't pretend they're married to my best friend." and tell her goodbye. make it short, yet very meaningful. no long letters or paragraphs.
