Guys trust me, I can tell you the benefits of getting rid of videogames are well worth it, in terms of productivity, quality of sleep and ability to concentrate.

Especially for those studying that needs to learn something, once you get rid of videogames it becomes much more easier to concentrate and focus.
Same for the quality of sleep (therefore your results in sport).

Videogames stress your body forcing continouous release of adrenalin and even screwing your dopamine system just like masturbation and drugs.

I've been playing videogames most of my life but I cant tell you after 3 weeks of no play at all Im getting really great benefits, I study much better with no focus problems and my sleep in deeper and easier to achieve allowing me to get up earlier in the morning and be more productive, needless to say recover from the gym is increased as well and I see it in weights growing and mass being added.

Someone suggests to keep it at the minimum but I suggest to cut it off completely, save it for when you are sick or in vacation if you have to.

There are many cases where video gaming has been compared to drug, tobacco and alcohol addictions. I'm quite certain that two of my ex's had video game addictions.

I eventually ended up looking into video game addiction and stumbled across this site:

It's sad, but it seems that for many people ALL or NOTHING are the only options. I struggle with moderation myself.

The problem is that middle ground is not possible, you will get all the problems of playing videogames plus the frustration of being forced to interrupt.

It would be like getting drugs in low amount to have low pleasure but full abstinence right after.

It doesnt matter if you play from 10 to 11 or from 10 to 1, your quality of sleep will be crappy anyway.

Videogaming has not been compared to drug, tobacco and alcohol addictions.

Video game ADDICTION has been compared to drug, tobacco and alcohol addictions.

The thing is addiction is the bad part, not the item itself.

The South Korean man who played Starcraft for 50 hours straight and died is different from the person who plays Starcraft 5 hours a week.

If you want to get rid of all of your videogames because you can't moderate yourself, then good for you, you are taking a step towards your own well being.

But bear in mind there are people that can keep their video games and moderate themselves.

If you currently have too many women chasing you, calling you, harassing you, knocking on your door at 2 o'clock in the morning... then I have the simple solution for you.

Just read my free ebook 22 Rules for Massive Success With Women and do the opposite of what I recommend.

This will quickly drive all women away from you.

And you will be able to relax and to live your life in peace and quiet.

I see so addictions can be compared to other addictions? Amazing.

First you guys preach we have to stop masturbating, now it's video games.

Come on. People will always be "addicted" to something. The only cure is to find other stuff that is also interesting, and then your "addiction" will moderate itself.

You don't have to have everything in excess. People need to realize that things are only good in moderation. If you do something too much it begins to bring you less pleasure. It is possible to limit your masterbation, drug, alcohol and video game consumption. I've recently started to only have 2 drinks when I go out, where as I used to have 10; I'm cutting back on my masterbation to every 10 days or so and I'm cutting out porn all together.

I'm with you on the video games, though. I'm having a hard time justifying my video game time, even in moderation. I mean, I gain absolutely nothing from playing video games. It's just a time killer. It's like jacking off - when I'm done I feel guilty for even doing it! haha sh1t sucks.

Man, I used to play video games all day long! Back in high school before I played basketball I would go straight home and hop on Smackdown vs Raw. I did this for SvR06 and SvR07 and then SvR08 was just plain wack so I decided to quit. I was getting no poontang during this period and I really didn't care anyway.

My senior year in high school I hopped on NBA 2k8. That game was the bizness. I'd play online leagues and just win them leagues too. I was always the best at everything I did. I was the best wrestler in SvR and I always had the best record in the nba leagues. When I first went off to college my parents were tripping about bringing the PS Triple so I just stopped playing video games. I was "sober" for like a year then over the summer I copped 2k9 and was playing that non-stop. When I had a girlfriend there was nothing I could do but play video games and chill and go to school.

When 2k11 came out I bought it first day. I even made my own league and was dominating. I had my own website, own everything. I was the CEO damnit! The next day though I did the biggest simp move that I have ever done in my life. I sold my PS3 and 2k11 for 80$ so my GF can get her nappy ass head done. When I told the homies from the league they were mad as hell.

After the break up I was still playing 2k but didn't own my own league. After I got booted from the league I just stopped playing 2k too much. I'd occasionally play with my roommate but nothing to the point where I would stay on a website and chat with other people and playing leagues.

I never bought 2k12 when it first came out. To be honest after my relationship I was focusing on improving myself and improving the quantity of girls I was dealing with. My roommate has 2k12 and I would play with him occasionally but never did I do no league. When my roommate sold his gaming system he sold the game to me for 20$. Now I knew I didn't want to go in my old habit of doing leagues and being addicted to 2k so I never played it much. I'd play an online game that same day and never touched it since. I then decided to sell it to my other roommate for 50$ (150% profit)!!!!

I will play 2k only if my roomate leaves his new system out in the living room. Just play a couple games only. No online bullsh*T with leagues. No obsessing over getting a new player and playing leagues. It was fun while it lasted though but I thinking getting females is better.

I probably won't get nba 2k13. Just don't like wasting too much of my time on video games. I have an xbox 360 now and the only reason I have it is for Netflix. Only time my tv is on however is when a breezy is comin to the crib. and by the time she leaves the tv will be off and the music will be blastin.

I do plan on getting GTA V though. Always liked the GTA series.

On another note before I was big on online video games I was hacking websites and learning html. When I was 15 I was a little computer wiz kid. Hacking school databases and invision forums for LOLz and gigglez. Stealing CCs and selling them online. I had even a monebookers account with thousands of dollars which became locked because of the illegal activity. Once I turned 19 though they let me unlock it but because they had to barr all users from the United States of using the site at the time for all the illegal activity. I had a good time at the mall that day! Once I started playing SvR online I stopped all that. and my computer IQ definately dropped since then!

Video games isn't bad unless it's prohibiting you from doing other things in your life.

Heh, I can relate to some of you.
I have played few games at my life, but I played them a lot, usually being among the top dogs in all of them.
Yeah, they're fun and they give you many adrenaline rushes, but at the end of the day you haven't gained much besides that instant satisfaction.

Thinking about it, there's no story I can share and enjoy with others. I amuse myself thinking about some situations that I've "lived" through in those games, realizing that that level of awesomeness was not possible without all the hard work that I put into playing.

But are those years of playing worth the few memories I have? Yes and no, but more no than yes.
Part of that time I wouldn't spend it in other ways, if I had the chance to live again. It was plain awesome.
However, a much bigger part I would invest into doing something else.

I think that it's OK if you dedicate a lot of time to video games, but, for your own good, put an end to it after 2 or 3 years of dedication.

And, honestly, the middle ground ("I don't play them much") is very shady. I have observed that moderation is hard for most people and that everybody will underestimate the time they spent playing.

2 hr/day is _A LOT_ of time. If you have a full time job, how on Earth can you allocate 2hr/day for gaming _and_ do all the other things that you want/should do? If you're still a student, why are you in the situation where you can allocate 2hr/day to gaming? Major red flag of wasting time!

Moderation:

(except for drugs: they are just stupid)

every man really needs to mastabate, just not every hour lol...

and games, have a limit of like 3 hours a month....or have it as a "special reward" that you earn.

such as after studying for 8 hours a day.

getting an A on an exam....

finally being successfully able to bench 300 in good form..etc.

Man... that's like the same as the students who gets A's are the ones who do the extra credit.

If you're so busy enjoying life, video games won't even come up. It will seem so boring.

My counter-argument to video game addiction or any addiction(even drugs) is... who cares as long as it makes you happy.
