If you're foolish enough to go through with this, at least get a prenup. It will mitigate some of the power she will have over you as the marriage progresses; you'll be able to rest knowing that she won't be able to take you to the cleaners TOO badly if you get sick of her BS and decide to leave.
totally support this. As a man you lose all power in the relationship when you give up the ability to show her the door. A prenup retains some of that power because you can show her the door without risking all of your fiscal well being for the rest of your life as many men find out when they get divorced.
In closing you're playing Russian roulette with your future, except this revolver has half the chambers loaded instead of just 1. You just don't see it this way because you're judgment is clouded by being in love.

At the end of the day when the ceremonial ritual is over marriage is just a cold life less government contract forming an unstable corporation between two people, its just a piece of paper but a piece of paper that can lead to financial ruin and epic levels of bitterness and destruction. Simply getting married will not make a relationship any better than it was before getting married and it will not lead to some epiphany of greater awareness.
So do not go down this road lightly. Think hard about it.
Fully agree except for one minor part. A marriage is a contract between 3 entities. You, your spouse, and the state. It's not just the two people. Although it is very much like forming a corporation. And if that corp falls apart the individual with the most to lose is usually the one who loses the most. Historically speaking this person is the man.
Bottom line, realize the risks, shake off the fog of romance for a moment and recognize what you're in for. These days there's no good reason to get married except for religious reasons, tax benefits, and some legalese (like insurance). Nowhere in that equation does love play a part. The reason why? Marriage doesn't have a thing to do with love. That's the secret. The relationship the day before getting married is the same relationship the day after. NOTHING CHANGES. That's a damn hard fact to swallow.
